Scope and purpose

The Information Management (IM) and Reporting Officer will be the Sudanese Red Crescent focal point on all issues related to information management and programmatic reporting Align manager or designated. He/she will ensure relevant and accurate Information Management products, processes, systems, and tools that can be used for operational decision-making. He/she will also be responsible for ensuring timely, high-quality reporting on the emergency operation.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Information Management

  • Support all Information Management processes at the operational level in close coordination with the SRCS HQ Information Manager and sectoral focal points. 
  • Provide technical guidance to SRCS colleagues on information management, analysis, data collection, data visualization and mapping.
  • Define the data flows at the operational level with all key stakeholders, including SRCS branches and RC/RC partners in-country. 
  • Training of SRCS staff and volunteers on local, regional and national level on tools and processes, such as data collection (Kobo).
  • Regularly produce IM products and analytical products in support of SRCS projects. Ensure that all IM products are accurate, comprehensible, clear and simple.
  • Look for potential risks, harm or opportunities regarding the IM, data process and outputs.
  • Supports HQ Information Manager with development of long-term Information Management strategy and roll-out plan for SRCS.

Reporting 

  • Ensure analysis of assessment and monitoring findings through reports, data visualization, and evidence-based documentation to inform operational decision-making.
  • Establish and manage a reporting timetable and deadlines for the operation and monitor this timetable to ensure all agreed deadlines have been met.
  • Manage efficient and effective quality control and delivery of reporting on the operation (e.g. Ops Updates, situation reports, information bulletins, and other relevant reports) and ensure all reports are clear, accurate and informative.
  • Ensure that all reporting is compliant with the SRCS standards and formats.
  • Follow up with SRCS branches & hubs on reporting.
  • Promote learning and information sharing from all operational monitoring or reports so that it can inform decision-making and the direction of the operation

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Skills and experience

  1. Technical qualification in relevant area, ideally studies relating to data management, statistics, or equivalent experience.

 

  1. A minimum of 3 years’ work experience with Information Management and reporting, preferably within the humanitarian/development sector.
  2. Excellent analytical skills with ability to influence decision-makers. 
  3. Background in data collection, management, analysis and presentation methods and tools, and ability to set up systems and procedures for reliable data collection and management.

 

  1. Strong analytical and written skills, including report writing and presentation skills.
  2. Proven Information Management (IM) and data skills in the areas of mobile data collection, analysis, and data visualisation, including mapping.

 

  1. Demonstrated familiarity in using Excel, KoBo / Open Data Kit, Tableau, and/or other data collection and data visualization tools. 

 

  1. Excellent coordination skills, including the ability to liaise with various agencies/individuals.
  2. Diplomacy and good interpersonal skills.
  3. Capacity to remain calm under pressure and not lose sight of strategic priorities. 
  4. Ability to work independently and with people located in different geographical locations and in other organizations.
  5. Experience within the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement will be an asset. Preferred. 
  6. Willingness to travel to other locations in Sudan depending on operational needs. Required.  
  7. Languages:
    1. Fluently spoken and written Arabic. Required.
    2. Good command of spoken and written English. Required (or preferred?).
