 Duties and responsibilities:

Job Summary: 

As a member of the ‘Bina’ Aljusur (‘Building Bridges’)’ project team, you will be responsible for the implementation of the Climate Smart Agriculture activities across technical sectors and projects. Your thorough and service-oriented approach will ensure that the project consistently applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve.  You will closely coordinate with project teams  and partner staff to implement high quality, contextually appropriate approaches to Natural Resource Management (NRM) and Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA).  She/He should be able to respond to learning needs, develop and conduct capacity building for partner staff.

 

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Support project Agribusiness partners and challenge fund grantees in implementing CSA practices and technologies and ensure successful implementation.
  • Support all agribusinesses and partners and challenge fund grantees in promoting, market uptake and scaling of evidence-based climate smart technologies and innovation solutions along the chains.
  • Contribute to climate risk assessments of prioritized commodities (pulses, oilseeds and cereals).
  • Analyzing any barriers against the uptake of climate smart agricultural best practices and innovative practices and inform the CSA advisor, Deputy Chief of Party (DCoP) and Private Sector Engagement (PSE) Manager with recommendations for smallholder farmers, SMEs, financial institution, and governments.
  • Support CSA training and coaching programs for small holder farmers (including women and youth), extension services providers (public, private, NGOs etc.), farmer cooperatives and all challenge fund grantees on climate-proofing agricultural production systems for selected value chains.
  • Support in the development of services providers business cases and scaling successful ones especially inclusion of inclusive and innovative water and energy efficient technologies.
  • Participate in partnership and collaboration meetings and events in the areas of climate-smart agriculture.
  • Complete project documentation for assigned activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree in International Development, Agriculture/ Agribusiness, Economics, or in a similar field is preferred. Minimum of 2 years of work experience in the field of demonstrated experience with climate smart agriculture innovations.
  • Additional experience may substitute for some education.
  • Experience in providing Business Development Services is a must
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and working in multicultural environment.

 

Required Languages - Fluency in written and spoken English required; Arabic native speakers, or strong skills are preferred

 

Travel - Position is based in CRS’ Gedaref office. Must be willing and able to travel up to 80% to project areas within Gedaref.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement.
  • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
