Finance Officer
ZOA International

 Background:

ZOA is an international non-governmental organisation with its head office in the Netherlands. ZOA has been working in Sudan since 2004. Its current focus is on post-conflict recovery and rehabilitation and ZOA operates programmed in North Darfur, East Darfur, South Darfur and Gedaref State, covering the sectors of food security and livelihoods & Economic Development, Integrated Water Resources Management and Education. 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • The position will supports ZOA Organisation in the timely availability of reliable accounting data and contributes significantly to the safeguarding ZOA finance and administrative procedures are adhered. 
  • Prepare bank & cash payments as per approved payment requests. 
  • Monitor bank balances and proactively advise Head of Finance on cash liquidity against planned activities. 
  • Review documents and ensure ZOA finance manual and procurement guidelines are adhered. 
  • Timely records of transactions in financial system (ERP) and reconciliation of ledgers. 
  • Ensure weekly and monthly cash and bank reconciliations. Submit monthly financial reports as per internal guidelines. Conduct weekly cash count. 
  • Ensure financial documents are appropriately stamped ‘’PAID’’ with both ZOA and donor logo where/if required. 
  • Archiving of financial transactions in a standardized (ZOA Way Working) for both physical and electronic copy. 
  • Timely payment and remittance of Tax, Zakat and Social Insurance contributions. 
  • Monitor work advance issued to staff, followed up and ensure settlement are done on timely manner. 
  • Support Head of Finance on audit planning & preparation and organize supporting documents as may be required during audit exercise. 
  • Perform any other duty that may be assigned which is deemed consistent and reasonable with the function and which is aimed at achieving objectives, mission and vision of ZOA.

  • The employee is responsible for the security of the activities that belongs to his/her own position and duties. The employee is also responsible for reporting security incidents in accordance with the process description for reporting data incidents of ZOA.
  • The employee has her/his own responsibility to work in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation in her/his position.
  • The employee will handle careful with personal data, confidential information and (information) systems.

The position is under direct supervision of the Head of Finance. He/she has a functional relationship with the other field offices and Country office Operations Team.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Job Requirement:

  • Proven working experience of 3 years in the relevant field.
  • Minimum education: Bachelor degree in Accounting.
  • Previous experience with International NGO’s;
  • Fluent in Arabic in reading, writing and speaking.
  • Excellent knowledge of computers (accounting systems, Excel, Word).

 Other requirements:

  • Accurate.
  • Ability to multi - task & prioritize task.
  • Good numerical skills.
  • Reliable Personality with good Communicative skills. 
  • Service oriented attitude but a hardliner when it comes to keeping up to ZOA policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work individually and in a team.
  • Result-oriented.
  • Proactive and focused.
  • Interpersonal and intercultural sensitive personality.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-religious setting.
  • High flexibility to work on weekends, holidays and after office hours when required.

The candidate will subject to Membercheck /COTER procedures, which is against Government Sanction lists to verify that the candidate is not on any of these lists. This counter-terrorism check is a requirement of Donor Government Regulations and is therefore an important part of an employee’s ability to fulfil his/her employment requirements before signing the Employment Contract with the Organization.
