 Background:

CARE International in Sudan has received funding from the European Union to implement the Promoting Inclusive Markets and Economic Empowerment (PRIME) project in South Kordofan and East Darfur States. In South Kordofan, the project will be implemented in Al-Rashad, Abujubeiha and Abbasiya localities, whereas in East Darfur, the project will be implemented in Bahar Alarab, Abu Karinka, and El Daein localities. The project aims to contribute to sustainable and resilient livelihoods and food security in rural communities in the states of South Kordofan and East Darfur that are most affected by food insecurity, climate change, and conflicts.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

 

The MEAL assistant contributes to the monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning tasks in the field office. The post holder works in collaboration with MEAL officers and Senior MEAL officer, to perform activities including providing inputs for project design, ensuring project team have appropriate monitoring and reporting formats, conducting field visits and produce alert messages and successful practices. Participating in project review meetings, data collection and working with community groups including VSLAs, Farmer field and business schools, Farmer groups and other community-based project structures to ensure appropriate tracking of progress against indicators is well documented. 

  • Provide MEAL support to project staff to improve program quality in line with CIS programming principles and ensure timely and accurate collection, analysis and dissemination of information.
  • Support the collection, analysis and response to feedback and complaints received from the community, through the feedback and complaints mechanism.
  • Participate in program related assessments, including baseline, and end of project evaluations.
  • Be aware of the CIS Safety and Security Management Plan (SSMP) and comply with it at all times
  • Be aware of CARE’s commitments to Gender and Diversity, and strive to uphold them
  • Promote CARE’s core values at all times

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • BA / BSc in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Development Studies, or another similar field.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation or other learning efforts is required.
  • Should understand concepts and demonstrate skills in monitoring and evaluation, results frameworks/program logic, and participatory monitoring.
  • Experience with facilitation, capacity building, formal and informal knowledge transfer, partnership strengthening, and empowering staff through opportunities for growth and development.
  • Experience with data collection on Kobo collect, and other mobile data applications.
  • Strong ability to work across teams.
  • Communicates well with remote collaborators, supervisors, and managers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Good knowledge of both written and spoken Arabic and English languages is a requirement for this position.
  • Work under minimum Supervision and should be proactive.
  • Ability and Willingness to Travel to locations outside of Office and live in basic conditions
