 Background:

 

Child development Foundation (CDF) is a Sudanese national NGO established and registered in 1999 under the act of humanitarian aid commission (HAC). It mainly works in the field of child protection and child rights. CDF targets male and female children as a main focus groups, who are at risk and vulnerable (street children, child labor, child soldier, war and conflict child, displaced, school dropout, orphans, refugees, etc.). CDF also targets other people of concerns such as children's families, pregnant and lactating women, women and PSNs.

 

Assistant Child Protection Under the supervision of Education Officer is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the SLS activities in the field locations under her/his responsibility. Main responsibility is to plan activities, supervise, implement, and monitor the impact of activities taking place in SLS & Child Friendly Spaces, Adolescent Girl Friendly Spaces ,S/he plays a key focal point role to running of SLS and develop material, plan sessions, communicate messaging, build capacities of facilitators, teachers  and community volunteers, For this, s/he needs to constantly listen, gather and use information and feedback provided by children, adolescents and other community members.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Identify and prepare learning sites Safe Learning Spaces; in schools, community center
  • Mobilize local community and register and enroll IDPs children (of different age groups: ECE, primary school age and adolescent) in SLS.
  • Ensure and provide Training for Safe Learning Spaces facilitators/teachers on children support including learning facilitation, life skills and SLS management.
  • Provide training to  SLS facilitators on PSS, EiE and comprehensive school safety framework for facilitators
  • Ensure and Provide grants for the operations of SLS including facilitators incentive/support and student’s activities.                                    
  • Establish and functionality of adolescent -led child friendly clubs in safe learning spaces (10-18 years children) and schools/girls clubs and  ensure support Seed funds for each club to start for continuation of the clubs activities   
  • Ensure Build capacity of adolescents and youth volunteers on life skills, citizenship education including Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) 
  • Train and support Youth Volunteers in child friendly spaces to engage in social cohesion in IDP camps and communities.
  • Manage the performance of SLS facilitators in Safe space learning, ALP teachers in ALP centers including community volunteers working in safe space. 
  • Work closely with CDF CP teams and MHPSS specialist for children at risks and referral for case management services.
  • Participate in West Darfur Education Sector Meeting and others meeting required with MoE ,HAC , governments body and local authorities 

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Summation weekly activity monthly and Quarterly progress reports, including the weekly attendance in for the various SLS activities.
  • Provide timely and quality inputs to meet 5W Education reporting requirements and timeline; necessary activity and Education reports (weekly, monthly, ad hoc).
  • Ensure all SLS activities are documented, filed and up to date.
  • Under supervision of Education Officer, ensure good practices are captured, documented and disseminated at project level and thematic program level.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Human Rights Law, Development Studies, Adolescents Studies or similar (undergraduate degree may be considered in conjunction with equivalent field experience).
  • At least 2 years of experience in Education in emergency and child protection.
  • Experience working with IDPs, and vulnerable groups of people preferred
  • Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures
  • Capable of applying skills and knowledge in a range of capacities, including direct implementation, coordination function, training, and the transfer of technical knowledge
  • Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well
  • Fluency in English required, working knowledge of relevant local languages desirable
