 Duties and responsibilities:

Job Summary 

 

CRS is looking for a Peacebuilding Project Officer (Peacebuilding PO) to support the implementation of its USAID Sudan-funded People-to-People Insijam (harmony in Arabic) Project. The Insijam Project aims to lay the foundation for reconciliation, peace, and sustainable development among people in conflict in East and Central Darfur. As the Peacebuilding Project Officer, you will support the implementation of core peacebuilding activities of the Insijam Project in Central Darfur. You will support the Peacebuilding SPO in facilitating the achievement of project objectives by planning, coordinating, and reporting on all core peacebuilding activities. The Peacebuilding PO assists the Peacebuilding SPO in ensuring a smooth, cost-effective, efficient, and timely implementation of core peacebuilding activities including monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on activities. 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Support the Peacebuilding SPO in coordinating and implementing Insijam project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
  • Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules and assist partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.
  • Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and assisting partners in their efforts to collect and analyze project data per specified mechanisms and tools. Collaborate with local partner(s) to prepare reports per the established reporting schedule.
  • Support the Peacebuilding SPO to assess the capacity development needs of local implementing partners and community structures and support CRS’ efforts to improve their technical and operational capacity to deliver this project.
  • Complete project documentation for assigned activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.
  • Support other project activities as needed. 

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Basic Qualifications

 

  • A University Degree in a related field such as Development Studies, Political Science, Project Management, Conflict Management, Peace Building and/or related subjects.
  • Training and experience in implementing peace-building projects. 
  • At least two (2) years of experience in project management. Experience in a USAID-funded activity will be an added advantage.   
  • Field experience in Darfur and/or similar contexts.
  • Hands-on experience in training local partners and developing community structures. Experience in developing and conducting training in rural contexts with limited literacy. 
  • Excellent representational and communication skills. 
  • Direct community and stakeholder engagement experience particularly in conflict and post-conflict environments.
  • Proven experience working through and building partnerships – particularly with local CSOs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Cross-cutting knowledge of protection, gender, and safeguarding. 

 

Required/Desired Foreign Language: A good command of English and Arabic is required.

 

Travel Required: Regular travel within Central Darfur localities, and occasional travel to other Darfur states

  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None 
  • Internal:Project Director, Project Manager, other Insijam project staff and CRS technical advisors
  • External:  Peer agencies, partners, private sector, project participants
