The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an impartial, neutral and independent organization striving to protect and assist the victims of war and internal violence, has been working in Sudan since 1978. The ICRC is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person for the following position: Radio Operator in AL-Junaina.

Purpose

The Radio Operator operates the ICRC’s telecommunications equipment. S/he maintains radio contact and telecommunications between sites, vehicles and people so that the delegation can follow field movements in accordance with its programmes and with security rules.

• Follows communication and transmission activityvia telecommunications equipment.
• Ensures constant contact with people moving in the field and takes appropriate action as stipulated under security rules and internal guidelines.
• Proactively maintains information flow on security-related issues.
• Updates lists of field movements, messagestransmitted, etc.
• Monitoring internalmovement for ICRC vehicles.
• Updates the head countlist daily.
• Gives radio-related briefings if required.
• Inform ICT immediately if devices not functioning well,(HF, VHF, Thuraya and monitoring screen)

• Bachelor’s degree, some college coursework completed, or an Associate Degreeis an asset.
• Vocational trainingin electronics, telecommunication, IT, or similarfield an asset.
• 3-5 years of experience in electronics, information technology, telecommunication, or similar position
• Good knowledge of the country and local terrain.
• Some experience working with the ICRC an asset.
• Good command (spoken and written) of English and/or French.
• Good computer knowledge.
• Skilled in the following competencies: Leadership, Accountability, People management, Teamwork& Collaboration, Representing the ICRC, Beneficiary & Client focused.
