 Duties and responsibilities:

Job Summary:

The Darfur Emergency Response Activity (DERA) is an 18-month initiative funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) in East, Central and West Darfur. DERA will provide emergency services to address basic needs, across the food, health, nutrition, WASH, and Shelter sectors targeting 602,399 people. DERA will be implemented in partnership with West Darfur Youth Organization for Development (WDYOD), Alttamass Development Organization (ADO) and Trust Rehabilitation and Development Organization (TDO).  In addition to these national NGOs, CRS will leverage community-level action groups to reach the most vulnerable. 

 

As a member of the DEAR project team, you will monitor and report on all Shelter and WASH project activities in East  Darfur in support of Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your thorough and service-oriented approach will ensure that the project consistently applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve.

 

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the coordination and implementation of all assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
  • Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules. Assist partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.
  • Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and assisting partners in their efforts to collect and analyze project data per specified mechanisms and tools. Collaborate with local partner(s) to prepare reports per established reporting schedule. 
  • Collect information on staff capacity needs and technical assistance needs of partner organizations and monitor capacity building and technical support activities to ensure effective impact.

Complete project documentation for assigned activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Basic Qualifications

  • High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in project support. Experience in the field of Shelter and WASH and for an NGO would be a plus.
  • Additional experience may substitute for some education.

 

Required Languages – English and Arabic

 

Travel - Based in East Darfur . Must be willing and able to travel up to 75% to the field for project monitoring.

  • Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners and community members
  • Attention to details, accuracy and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement.
  • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Key Working Relationships: 

Internal

DERA Project Manager (line manager), DERA program team based in Central Darfur, West Darfur, East Darfur, Port Sudan and Nairobi (Kenya). 

 

External 

CRS DERA partner in Central Darfur – Trust and Rehabilitation Organization for Development (TDO), other NGOs,  Humanitarian Action Committee (HAC), and community members.
