Plan International started working in Sudan in 1977 and has a presence in four states out of 18 states, mainly (Kassala state, White Nile State, North Kordofan State and Darfur State) and implemented its program via a Child Cantered Community Development (CCCD) approach, focusing on child rights.

 

Purpose of the Position:

Under the supervision of Influencing and Gender HoD the Communications Specialist will support and lead the implementation of the Plan International Sudan country office and fields’ communication activities.

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Dimensions of the Role

· Lead the coordination, finalization, production and dissemination of the quarterly good-quality CO newsletter.

· Engaging with the MESSA team in the regular monthly COM meeting and any other relevant meetings with GH.

· Support the influencing and gender department in the planning and implementation of the celebration of the remaining international days including the drafting of the Press Release.

· Support the influencing and gender department team in the write-up and the completion of the quarterly and the annual reports.

· Lead the assurance of the production and sharing of engaging and good-quality change stories, case studies, photos, and audio-visual materials from the field using the workplace and other Plan International Sudan social media platforms.

· Lead the development and sharing of children and young people safeguarding, gender equality and other Plan core policies online flash advocacy messages using online innovative ideas and different social media platforms.

· Develop and share publicity, media and communications protocols (including the prohibition of the use of images without PII consent, for personal use e.g. uploading to non-Plan International social media pages) and acknowledgement forms to confirm dissemination of Safeguarding in Media Guidelines, including developing a checklist to review safeguarding in media risk management

· Lead and participate in the influencing, inclusion and communication gender bi-annual reflection meetings.

· Technically lead the development and dissemination of different innovative calendars of communication approaches to ensure appropriate and regular information sharing on safeguarding, gender and inclusion, PSHEA and other Plan core policies (staff, partners, children, youth, communities, government and other stakeholders).

· Lead and update Plan International Sudan Web-Site, Facebook, Work Place, Twitter, Media Bank, and other social media platforms.

· Support the Program staff in the Program Areas and the CO in terms of communication visibilities for PIS and other donors.

· Ensure the application of the organization’s brand in internal and external communication.


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • The minimum requirement to hire a Communications Specialist is a bachelor’s degree. Preferably, graduates with degrees in fields like communications, journalism, and public relations.
  • A deeper understanding of the various communication and campaign norms, practices, and action plans with emphasis on girls’ equality and or gender issues;
  • Excellent technical in managing social media platforms.
  • Experiences working in relevant fields with NGOs are considered.
