 Background:

Vétérinaires Sans Frontières - Germany(VSF Germany) is a non-governmental, non-profit making international Organization, engaged in the field of veterinary relief and development work providing humanitarian aid and development assistance to pastoralists and vulnerable communities in areas where livestock is of importance. With support in animal health, agriculture, marketing, and food safety, VSFG works towards food security and strengthened livelihoods of pastoralist communities. VSF Germany implements activities in Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya, and Somalia. VSF Germany is registered and licensed in Sudan by Humanitarian Aid commission (HAC) since 2010 and renewed its license every year. 

 

VSF Germany seeks to recruit a qualified Logistics Officer to be responsible for ensuring that all logistics activities for VSFG Sudan office are done in accordance with the required standards and procedures. Women are highly encouraged to apply.

Gross Salary:   800 -1000USDbased on experience &subjected to all statutory deductions


 
 Duties and responsibilities:

General Roles

 

  • The logistics officer is responsible for providing logistic support and overseeing the overall logistic processes in support of the objectives of the organization.He/she will responsible for the planning, oversight, and management and coordination of logistics support operations to ensure smooth accomplishment of projects. 

 

Task and responsibilities 

  • Provide general logistics work including the follow up of all types of shipment and transportation 
  • The logistics officer is expected to create a plan or time-table for the movement of materials and input 
  • Supervision of vehicles movement, Vehicles rent, vehicle license and insurance and ensure timely maintenance.
  • Reporting on monthly base, vehicles fuel consumption & destination record.
  • Supervision of dispatching and movement of the vehicles on daily base and reporting any incidents/Accidents of the vehicles coupled with following up with traffic authority to obtaining the accident official report
  • Responsible for the movement of materials to different VSFG field offices including the preparation needed for shipment.
  • preparing all related documents of shipping and transportation including packing when necessary
  • Responsible for tracking, receiving, and stocking all items ordered
  • Ensure materials are appropriately stored and shipped.
  • Conduct an inventory of materials prior to shipment
  • Record and provide a list of all equipment moved or received from different VSFG offices
  • Manage the repair of organization equipment and machineries 
  • Carry out regular and annual property inventory and provide other report in his area of responsibility 
  • Identifying and reporting items need to be disposed 
  • Conduct monthly or yearly Base the inventory process and Asset register for the all asset of the project
  • Ensures goods and equipment are safely received, stored and delivered to field
  • Any other related assignments as requested by supervisor 

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • The preferred candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, public administration, Business Administration or other related field 
  • At least 2 years of experience in logistics management preferably in non-governmental organizations. 
  • Have an understanding of logistics operations and practices. 
  • Good level of technical skills in mechanics / IT / Communications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; excellent demonstrated interpersonal, analytical, and negotiation skills
  • Good communication and representative skills
  • Ability to multitask and deal with stressful situations
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
