Role Overview 

 

We are looking to recruit a Solar Engineer to be responsible for the Design of solar energy systems for all types of applications and developing a wide range of skills in all aspects of electrical engineering to support the full project development activities. Such activities include electrical design, software design, calculations, drawings, and other pertinent engineering and design documentation to enable the procurement, installation, commissioning, and safe operation of solar systems.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

The solar engineer is responsible for providing innovative and comprehensive solutions in design engineering for residential, agricultural and commercial & industrial (C&I) photovoltaic projects in accordance with the company’s standards. The solar engineer works in a collaborative, team- based environment. Under the overall coordination and supervision of the management, the solar engineer will be expected to carry out the following tasks: 

  • Conduct engineering site analysis to collect structural, electrical, and related site information for use in the design of solar systems. 
  • Develop array layouts, structural drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Create plans for solar energy system development, monitoring, and evaluation activities to offer best solution for each project. 
  • Installation and commissioning of solar energy systems. 
  • Ensure availability & functionality of all safety features on the system’s equipment & follow safety instructions. 
  • Tracking and monitoring project documentation. 
  • Evaluating construction issues. 
  • Meeting with other engineers, developers, and investors to present and review project. 
  • Resolve and troubleshoot systems problems.
  • Good housekeeping of both customer sites and company assets.
  • Prepared to travel for jobs outside of Khartoum.
  • Assure total customer satisfaction.
  • Participating in industry forums. 

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • BEng or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 2 years industrial experience in the sector.
  • Excellent design skills in electrical engineering including AutoCAD. Solar systems modelling software such as PVSyst are preferable. 
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ...etc.).
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English language.
  • Knowledge and understanding of international standards relating to electrical equipment and system design, current legislative and industry requirements.
  • Ability  electrical engineering man-hour and material estimates.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively managing multiple tasks and projects.
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication and presentation skills including dealing with clients, vendors and third parties.
  • Must be self-motivated, flexible, able to work to project schedules.
  • Driving Permit
