 Background:

DRC Sudan

DRC has been present in Sudan since 2004, delivering life-saving programming in protection, emergency response, shelter, food security and livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, camp management, and humanitarian mine action. DRC has implemented projects in Central Darfur, South Darfur, South Kordofan, Gedaref, Kassala, and Khartoum states. Sudan hosts one of the largest displaced populations in Africa, with over 3.7 million internally displaced people and over 1.1 million refugees from South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Central African Republic, Chad, Yemen and Syria. Against a background of political crisis, Sudan faces economic and social turmoil, with sharp increases in food and energy costs, further exacerbated by disease outbreaks and ongoing conflict.

Overall purpose of the Role:

Under the direction of the Human Resources & Admin Manager, the L&D officer is responsible to develop a range learning and development initiatives in accordance with DRC Strategy, and Learning and Development planning to enable staff and managers to develop the skills, knowledge and experience required for DRC Sudan to meet its learning and development priorities.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Along with HR Manager maintains responsibility for overall planning and implementation of all DRC trainings in Sudan and maintains the annual training plan.
  • Prepare training calendar for DRC Sudan
  • Collaborate with managers to assess and identify training needs, create training plans and support Managers in identifying their training budget requirements 
  • Responsible for collecting of all work and development plans for DRC Sudan staff
  • Compile attendance of training matrix and update on a weekly basis. 
  • Support and assist managers to map out training plans for individual employees and teams
  • Provide L&D support as part of the Performance Development Process, working with Managers to support their Succession Planning and Talent Management plans
  • Source and identify external providers and maintain the preferred suppliers list (supported by HR Assistant) to deliver required training to appropriate standards and managing ongoing relationships
  • Serves as focal point for DRC induction trainings – organizes workshops and refreshers for DRC staff on the online trainings as per the training catalog. 
  • Plan for other staff development initiatives as agreed by the SMT
  • Coordinate induction for national staff at the Country office and be the focal person for the field offices in coordination with the HR persons.
  • Ensure that induction for international staff take place on a monthly basis.
  • Develops new trainings and materials on different subjects
  • Ensures proper tracking of training needs vs delivered trainings; provides periodic reports.
  • To provide development by coaching and 1 to 1 support where the need for this has been established. 
  • Supporting other department in the design of both formal and on the job learning activities when needed
  • Facilitate trainings as needed; i.e. writing skills, code of conduct, etc.
  • Supporting other department in the design of both formal and on the job learning activities when needed

Any other duties and may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor and/or the head of the department

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or relevant field with minimum 3 years experiences
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multiple training tools and methods
  • Ability to analyze data and trends for informed decisions
  • Demonstrated Capacity building skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills both languages (English and Arabic) oral and written.
  • The ability to multitask and manage a diverse workload.
  • Excellent working experience on ERP system (E Learning).   

Excellent skills in MS office programmes (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, database and network communication), knowledge of any other software which can be used for creating of training materials (preferable)

 

Education: Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)

  • BA in Management/Sociology/industrial psychology/HR 
  • Masters in HR management or industrial psychology is appreciated

Internationally recognized HR certifications are appreciated

Languages:

Languages: (indicate fluency level)

Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory
