Background: DT Global (DTG) is an implementing partner for USAID Project – The Sudan Transition Program – South (STP-S) seeks to strengthen conditions that support a peaceful and prosperous Sudan through increasing engagement of civil society actors, improving access to timely, accurate information, and encouraging citizens to model democratic behaviors. STP-S will be headquartered in Khartoum and will further maintain two regional offices in the South Kordofan and Blue Nile States. |

Duties and responsibilities: The Driver will perform and drive according to the rules and laws of the STP-South office ensuring security and safety procedures in driving staff and assist with operations and logistic duties.
• Provide timely, responsible, and safe driving services for DT Global staff, beneficiaries, or other authorized passengers as well as project goods and services. • Maintain defensive and adaptive driving at all times, remaining vigilant to ensure safety and avoid danger • Responsible for ensuring exterior and interior cleanliness of all DT Global vehicles • Perform daily and weekly safety and maintenance checks for assigned vehicle, as described in the DT Global policy manuals or as directed by supervisor • Adhere to all traffic laws and DT Global security and safety procedures in driving, including the prescribed proper placement of safety equipment (first aid kit, fire extinguisher); limiting speeds to between 50 and 100 km depending on road conditions, taking smoothest, most direct roads reasonably possible • Responsible for ensuring that no unauthorized passengers are permitted to enter the vehicle • Provide professional atmosphere for all passengers while traveling • Responsible for monitoring service needs of project vehicles (both as required per the vehicle’s owner’s manual and as needed). Ensure that service records are updated and regularly provided to supervisor with accurate service records • Update the vehicle logbook on a daily basis (movement, refueling, services and repair) and send to supervisor after each refueling • Assist in other operations and logistic duties as assigned by supervisor, including office maintenance, purchase of simple supplies, transport of goods, official errands) • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor. |

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required: • Completion of Secondary School required. • Valid driving license with a clear record required. • Mechanic’s certification preferred. • Preferred experience of 2 years’ as a driver for an international organization, NGO, or implementing partner • Demonstrates ability to maintain vigilance to ensure safety and avoid danger • Mechanic’s skills are an added advantage • Spoken Fluency and proficient writing skills in Arabic required. Proficiency in English – oral and written –preferred. • Excellent knowledge of the surrounding areas in area of operations around duty station • Be proactive and able to work cross-culturally in a diverse workplace • Must be timely, trustworthy, and courteous to all passengers • Position open to Sudan nationals only. |
