Background: On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-funded by the European Union, GIZ implements a project to promote employment in Darfur. GIZ pursues an integrated approach, developing capacities on the demand side as well as the supply side of the labour market. On the one hand, GIZ supports formal and informal vocational training providers in offering training courses that respond to the demands of the market. On the other hand, GIZ supports private sector organizations in their capacity to offer business development services, job matching services and entrepreneurship promotion modules to help them grow and become more competitive, which will ultimately lead to more jobs and business opportunities. Access to training and employment is particularly challenging for refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Nyala, El Fashir and El Geneina.
