Job Summary:

CRS is looking for a Project Officer to support the Senior Project Officer (SPO) in delivering the natural resources component of the USAID Sudan People-2-People project titled ‘Insijam’ (i.e., harmony” in Arabic).  Insijam is a 24-month project that aims to lay the foundation for reconciliation, peace, and sustainable development among people in conflict in Central Darfur. Catholic Relief Services (CRS), together with its partners.  The Project Officer for NRM (PO – NRM) will assist the SPO NRM in ensuring a smooth, cost effective, efficient, and timely implementation of project activities including staff and budget management, activity monitoring and reporting. 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Support the SPO (NRM) in coordinating and implementing Insijam project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
  • Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules. Assist partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.
  • Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and assisting partners in their efforts to collect and analyze project data per specified mechanisms and tools. Collaborate with local partner(s) to prepare reports per established reporting schedule.
  • Support the SPO (NRM) to assess capacity development needs of local implementing partners and community structures and support CRS’ efforts to improve their technical and operational capacity to deliver this project. 
  • Complete project documentation for assigned activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.
  • As and when directed by the SPO (NRM), represent P2P and CRS in relevant cluster coordination forums at the field level.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • University degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Project Management and / or related subjects. Additional experience may substitute for some education.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in monitoring and evaluation. 
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement.
  • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred.
  • MEAL experience on  USAID-funded activities is desirable. 
  • Understanding CRS MEAL systems and processes will be an added advantage. 
  • Experience in developing and conducting training in rural contexts with limited literacy. 
  • Cross-cutting knowledge of protection, gender, supply chain chains and safeguarding.

  • Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners and community members

Required Language: Excellent command of English and Arabic required. 

Travel Required: Approximately 60% travel within Sudan.
