Introduction to the Country Office:

Norwegian church Aid is in Sudan since 1972 and works in the fields of relief, rehabilitation, and development, and works through national partners.
NCA’s Country Office is currently in Port Sudan. It has a Field Office in Al-Gadarif, Al-Gadarif State, where its projects activities encompass GBV, Climate Resilient WASH, Climate Smart Economic Empowerment, and Health. As well, its projects activities in Kosti, White Nile State are implemented by the national partners

 Background:

The NCA Country Office in Khartoum is looking for strengthening the team of its Logistics Department by recruiting a Logistics Officer to support the programmes with the best possible effectiveness and efficiency. He/she will be based in Khartoum and reports to the Country Logistics Coordinator.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

1. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Assists the Country Logistics Coordinator in following up the logistics procedures to support the programmes with the best possible effectiveness and efficiency.
  • The (Amesto) Logistics and Procurement System is an integral part of the logisitcs procedures.
  • In coordination with the Country Logistics Coordinator, efficiently and effectively liaises with relevant local authorities to obtain timely approvals and clearances for imports/transportation of items to different program areas.

2. Main Tasks

  • Under the guidance of the Country Logistics Coordinator undertakes the procurement of all items and goods sourced through the NCA Khartoum Country Office for NCA Sudan programs.
  • Supports the Country Logistics Coordinator/Logistics Officer in preparing, processing and follow up requests for obtaining various approvals, exemptions, clearances and permits required for imported items and goods.
  • Arranges transportation for all items and goods to the various NCA Sudan programs areas and secures related authorities permission.
  • Facilitates the necessary arrangements for servicing and or repairs of various program assets as required and requested by the Logistics Coordinator.
  • Place and follow up requests for obtaining and or renewing vehicle insurance and renewing the registration at the traffic police department for all NCA Sudan Program fleet of vehicles.
  • Supports the Country Logistics Coordinator to ensure that NCA Sudan procedures and systems are correctly implemented in Khartoum with regards to supply-chain management, procurement, warehousing, transport, and inventory management as required.
  • Maintains records and timely submits reports as appropriate (procurement, transport, fleet, and asset management) and according to the set-up guidelines (weekly and monthly reports).
  • Performs activities in a close cooperation with the Country Logistics Coordinator/Logistics Officer.
  • Ensures the usage of Warehouse and procurement System (Amesto)  throughout the process.
  • Participates in all logistics meetings arranged by NCA as requested/delegated by the Country Logistics Coordinator.
  • Supports in the monitoring and managing of the NCA vehicles usage and follow up the NCA’s established procedures, rules and regulations: field trips, vehicle equipment, duty drivers, movements between the residences, parking, vehicle safety devices, etc. 

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications

  • Either a relevant educational background from University OR minimum 1-year relevant work experience.
  • Experience from working with NGOs/humanitarian organizations is a plus.
  • Valid drivering license and a skilled driver.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic.

Personal Qualities

  • Ability to make priorities and take decisions under stress and high workload.
  • Ability to build a good network with logisticians in other NGOs quickly.
  • Ability to quickly learn the NCA procurement regulations and abide by these regualtions.
  • Digital literacy and ability to quickly adapt to new software, for example Teams.
  • Organised and self-disciplined, good at time management.
  • Results focused and hard-working.
  • Positive outlook and team oriented.
