 Background:

SUDO is an independent, secular, nongovernmental, non-partisan and non-profit making organization established in April 2001 and dedicated to the promotion and the protection of human rights, peacebuilding, support human basic services and development. SUDO works with vulnerable and needy individuals and communities at the grassroot level, irrespective of their social, ethnic, and religious backgrounds or political affiliation.

SUDO is registered as a national NGO with the Humanitarian Aid Commission of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and is regulated according to the Humanitarian Aid Commission Act since its establishment on April 21, 2001.  Since then, SUDO has grown to become one of the leading Sudanese NGOs, with a head office in Khartoum and 13 well established field offices in Khartoum, South, North, West, Centeral and East Darfur States and West, North and South Kordofan States, in addition to Blue Nile, Kassala, Red Sea and Al-Gadaref states. In addition to these offices, we have focal points in all the other states in Sudan.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Reporting to: Program Director

Line Management: All Field Office programme and support staff.

Job Purpose: To provide leadership and management support to the SUDO field office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Head of Field Office will have the following duties and responsibilities.

  • Assume overall management of all programme development and implementation activities in the field location.
  • Responsible for overall management of the field office, ensuring staff are aware and implement SUDO policies, procedures and systems in human resource, finance and logistics.
  • Produce reports and analysis of the security and humanitarian situation and forward this to the Programme Director.
  • Monitor the budgeted versus actual expenditure, keeping the Programme Director informed and ensuring any corrective actions are taken.
  • Establish and maintain contact with all key actors relevant in programme implementation. These includes government, donors, UN and NGOs.
  • Provide accurate, timely and clear communication to all staff, and beneficiaries.
  • Disseminate communication from Programme Director and Executive Director as required.
  • Promote professional working relationships and resolve staff concerns in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that the application of all local staff policies, contracts, and disciplinary documents conform to local labour laws.
  • Ensure that all contracts with suppliers and vendors are legal and protect SUDO to the fullest extent possible.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Disaster Management, Human Rights, International Development, Business Administration or related fields.

Experience

  • Minimum five years of field experience with NGOs.
  • Experience in project management at the field level.
  • Team leadership and management skills.
  • Experience with establishing and managing field offices.

Language Requirements

  • Good spoken and written Arabic and English.
