 Background:

CARE International in Sudan, one of the world’s leading international humanitarian agencies working in Sudan ,currently implements significant projects in South & East Darfur, South Kordofan and  East  Sudan.  CARE  invites applications from qualified candidates  to be part of our team  for the following position:

 

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Team Leader, the Medical Logistics Assistant will be in charge of CARE’s drugs management information system (DMIS) and Health information management system (HIMS) which includes monitoring drugs utilizations both at CARE and partner supported facilities and dispatch drugs based on requests. S/he will ensure that all medical supplies are managed in accordance to with WHO/MOH Protocols and train and supervise relevant local and national staffs as needed. S/he will be responsible to implement health & nutrition information system to monitor progresses and to ensure all the supported facilities have proper record keeping and data analysis that is useful for decision making and improving the services. This project will be implemented in close coordination with Ministry of Health (MOH), WHO, UNICEF, WFP, WAAD and other health and nutrition implementing partners. Therefore, the incumbent is expected to have high team work and coordination spirit. The project also requires regular field visits. In addition, as part of the logistics team, s/he is typically in charge of managing the proper set up / rehabilitation / running of base premises (office / guest house), ensures the proper functioning of supply chain including procurement planning, purchasing of goods and services, their transport and storage, supervises the organization, planning, and maintenance of the fleet, evaluates/reports the need and ensures the proper use of CARE’s equipment, assesses and ensures the functioning of the means of communication appropriate for the CARE office.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • BSc in pharmacology, medicine, or other related fields
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in pharmacology, logistics, etc. in humanitarian sector
  • Demonstrate analytical and conceptual skills to plan projects, timetable agreed activities and oversee staff activities
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills; comfortable engaging in dialogue with a range of actors including communities leaders and other community structures, government departments, local authorities, CBOs and other NGOs.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English; Ability to write reports in both English and Arabic
  • Good team player, flexible and capable of working with a multi-national Sub Office and Country team
  • Ability and willingness to travel to locations outside base station to program operational areas and live in sometime basic conditions.
  • Excellent computer skills – Microsoft word, power point and excel
  • Experience in engaging the community and community mobilization
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Willing to work with the disadvantaged / vulnerable people under stress and in difficult situation
  • Fluent in both Arabic and English languages in order to write reports and translate documents
