Shelter and nonfood item officer

 Background:

AORD is a Voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization. AORD established in 2006 and registered officially in Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) on 2007. Since its establishment, AORD has been actively working among societies to spread the message of peace and the values of peaceful coexistence, build capacity for conflict transformation and promote social cohesion and integration with a focus on building the capacities of community actors, managing natural resources, increasing access to basic services and providing livelihood assets.

Since its inception, Alsalam Organization for Rehabilitation and Development (AORD) has remained engaged in almost all development and humanitarian sectors, namely Provision of Humanitarian and Emergencies Assistances., education for all and Education in Emergency, General Protection, GBV, Mine Action, and Child protection. Food Security & Livelihood (FSL). Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). Health and Nutrition. Emergency Shelters and Non-Food Items (ES/NFIs). Capacity Building and Human Development. Development and Early Recovery in Blue Nile, Kordofan States and Khartoum.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning, coordinating, and tracking Shelter/ Non-food items activities.
  • Implement Shelter/Nonfood items  activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets, and plans
  • Ensure close collaboration with Camp Coordinators and Area Coordinators in locations hosting IDPs/ returnees and refugees.
  • Assist in ensuring that the projects implementation and inputs are organized and executed in a timely manner in accordance with the approved plans
  • Liaising with relevant government institutions, community groups and organizations
  • Managing budgets
  • Maintaining records
  • Writing plans and reports
  • Facilitating self-help community groups
  • Undertaking outreach work to encourage more people to participate
  • Undertake ad-hoc assignment or any other relevant duty as may be required by the direct supervisor.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Emergency Response in similar contexts.
  • Technical competence in the Cluster system and Shelter and NFI sector.
  • Good computer skills in programs including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to work under pressure in challenging working and living conditions
  • Ability to work effectively with other people both as an individual and as a member of a group
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Good administrative skills
  • Good leadership skills
  • Technical Skills
  • Ability to write reports, assessment papers in a clear and concise manner and to communicate orally in an effective manner.
  • Good analytical skills to identify and resolve difficult and sensitive issues.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English; Arabic would be an asset.
