 Background:

Mercy Corps (MC) Europe has been working in Sudan since 2009 with the goal of supporting the transition to a fair and lasting peace by implementing programs that promote long-term, sustainable development and contribute to secure, productive and just communities. MC Europe is facilitating recovery by addressing economic recovery needs and laying the groundwork for long-term development. MC Europe’s work in Sudan has three major components: Civil Society Development, Economic Recovery and Development and Humanitarian Assistance with activities that span many sectors including agriculture, market and livelihoods development, water/sanitation, capacity building, peace building, infrastructure rehabilitation, emergency distribution. MC Europe is committed to long-term programming in Sudan and faces numerous opportunities for expansion. GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: The Program Officer is responsible for the administration follow up and upkeep of grants and reporting unit. S/he will support the Director of Programs to perform duties in terms of project implementation, setting up and participation in Grant Opening meetings, liaise with field offices on project needs and reporting needs. The Program Officer might also be required to take notes during meetings, call and receive calls from various stakeholders, arrange meetings and follow up on area of the collaboration, researches, surveys, discussions with the stakeholders all this for the grants and reporting unit



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Administration Functions

• Support Director of Programs on day-to-day tasks

• Act as focal point for the administration of approval requests from the Programs team

• Setup stakeholder meetings for discussions or research with external stakeholders

• Setup meetings and participate with internal stakeholders on project implementation

• Follow up on any further documentation and/or explanation required by approvers and/or reviewers in regards to the grant approvals

• Take notes during meetings and produce meeting minutes properly filled and filed.

• Ensure data collection from field for grants development and reporting purposes

• Liaise with the field offices on behalf of Director of Programs

• Liaise with local partners in relation to current and potential sub-awards Other

• Conduct herself/himself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to MC Europe and not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.

• Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Accountability to Beneficiaries MC Europe team members are expected to support all efforts towards accountability, specifically to our beneficiaries and to international standards guiding international relief and development work, while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Director of Programs WORKS DIRECTLY WITH: All MC Sudan team members.


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

• One to two years of Administration management experience is required.

• BA or equivalent in Administration or relevant field is preferred.

• Ability to communicate (verbally and in written) in both Arabic and English is a must

• Ability to operate Microsoft office tools (WORD,EXCEL,POWERPOINT)
