 Background:

Working under the direct supervision and in close consultation of the Nutrition Coordinator, the Nutrition supervisor is primarily responsible for planning, implementing, supervising, monitoring and evaluation of UNICEF/IMC nutrition program in West Darfur state. The staffs will coordinate closely with Deputy Nutrition Coordinator, Deputy Medical Coordinator and Medical Coordinator, The nutrition program involves a full CMAM approaches including community outreach intervention



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

Working under the direct supervision and in close consultation of the Nutrition Coordinator, the Nutrition supervisor is primarily responsible for planning, implementing, supervising, monitoring and evaluation of UNICEF/IMC nutrition program in West Darfur state. The staffs will coordinate closely with Deputy Nutrition Coordinator, Deputy Medical Coordinator and Medical Coordinator, The nutrition program involves a full CMAM approaches including community outreach intervention. The incumbent role will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  •  Planning, implementing, supervising, monitoring and evaluation of IMC nutrition program across the implementation areas.
  •  Coordinate and collaborate with other agencies, government representatives and community leaders
  •  Lead the overall implementation of CMAM , IYCF and strengthen Family MUAC approaches
  •  Ensure overall timely and quality of the Nutrition Programme
  •  Support supervision, mentoring and training staffs under him/her
  •  Strengthen community components for both CMAM and IYCF through Community Nutrition volunteers (CNVs) and Mother Support Groups (MSGs).
  •  Work closely with National Non- Governmental Organization (NNGO) local partner involved in community work.
  •  Practicing handling children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) gently and using a supportive and friendly manner with mothers.
  •  Document success stories and lessons learnt for the future programming
  • Represent IMC in meetings in areas of coverage when called upon
  •  Provide information to health/clinic staff with regard to prevailing nutritional trends and food security issues as observed and reported from the community to allow for timely interventions 
  •  Maintain monthly nutrition surveillance data gathering and submit report to the appropriate agency (MOH Nutrition department) and supervisor
  • Proper and timely management of supply chain management to ensure no breakdown in supplies
  • Management of nutrition store, Stock cards and nutrition equipment
  • Ensure Health and  Nutrition education sessions are well planned and executed
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports as per the work plan and provide recommendations to address issues and concerns encountered within the previous reporting period
  •  Preparation WFP food report every month and compiled to Medical Coordinator
  • To conduct CMAM and IYCF trainings for nutrition staff and national partner
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as discussed with his/her supervisor deemed necessary for the implementation of the program

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. University degree in or diploma in nutrition, public health, nursing or health related field
  2. Experience in the prevention treatment of acute malnutrition and maternal child care.
  3. Have more than three years of experience in nutrition programming, implementing and monitoring.
  4. In-depth knowledge of boosters and barrier to good nutrition in local context
  5. Experience in identifying SAM & MAM cases for both U5 and PLW.
  6. Good analytical skills
  7. Proven management capacity and motivation of teams and capacity building
  8. Good organizational skills, anticipation and taking initiatives
  9. Commitment to humanitarian principles
  10. Ability to work in unstable environments with basic living conditions.
  11. Knowledge of surveys l.e SMART, coverage is added advantage 

OTHER COMMENTS:

  1. Actively promote PSEA (prevention of sexual exploitation) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.         

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Fluently speak Arabic and good English language.

Salary and Benefits:

  • International Medical Corps (IMC) offers a very competitive salary and benefit to its employees. The employee shall receive a monthly gross salary of USD 442.
  • Additionally, IMC offers different package of allowances including 21.03 USD as medical allowance per month. IMC also pays one-month basic salary as bonus once every year during Ramadan month {Eid Alfitr}
