Chemonics International is hiring for a new USAID program that aims to support civil society organizations and independent media to advance key transition priorities. The implementation of this program requires a highly integrated and dynamic team approach to creative, coordinated, and effective program implementation in order to meet the program’s objectives.
Background: The USAID/Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) Transition to New Sudan (TNS) program aims to support the consolidation of Sudan’s democratic transformation through activities that 1. strengthen civic engagement; and 2. expand independent media. The Program Development Officer will report directly to the Deputy Chief of Party or their designee to achieve TNS objectives. |

Duties and responsibilities:

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
• At least 3 years of experience in design, development, and management of donor-funded projects at the community level
• Bachelor’s degree required
• High level knowledge of Sudanese political and social context and good understanding of complex socio-political development
• Strong relationship- building, monitoring and evaluation, and report writing skills
• Excellent communication skills as well as proactive problem-solving abilities independently and with teams,
• Ability to work under difficult conditions and to work effectively and harmoniously under pressure in a stressful environment and conditions
• Thorough understanding of political context and ability to think creatively in conceptualizing relevant grant activities
• Fluent Arabic and strong English language skills required
