 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Performing autonomously, all necessary complex / advanced installations, maintenance and repairs (i.e. requiring special qualifications/training), according to the supervisor’s instructions and executes any needed tests after any repair or maintenance. Including the following functions:
    • Qualified IT technician
  • Making suggestions regarding any repair or maintenance work needed in MSF communication installations, equipment and/or vehicles and assisting logistics department for any relative work needed.
  • preparing and reporting the visits to the site(s) under his/her responsibility to ensure the preceding points;
  • Managing the stock of consumable items, filling in the stock cards, carrying out physical stock inventories, executing orders necessary for renewing stock, avoiding any shortage.
  • Monitoring, maintaining and following up on all Information Technology (IT) and Telecom equipment, tools and services in the mission, in accordance with MSF standards, policies, protocols and procedures;
  • Keeping working area clean and tidy.
  • Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to logistical maintenance are always completed. Preparing needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance.
  • implementing and improving data security protocols (data saving, firewall, User Access right, backup, security for equipment and software, etc.) to ensure data security, availability, and immediate operational recovery and continuity in case of emergency;
  • Immediately informing the line manager of any problems that arise in the course of the work, particularly with regard to damage, loss, theft or attempted break-ins
  • Working in collaboration with other specialised technicians and workers, if necessary, or managing a small team of workers.
  • Supervising, Providing technical support and presenting MSF standards, policies, protocols and procedures to all users. Providing advanced technical support to logistics experts dealing with IT and Telecom systems. When needed, liaise with the Information Systems (IS) Specialist and/or HQ Technical Referent for 2nd line support, as well as with external providers, to ensure any incidents or problems that cannot be solved at his/her level are appropriately escalated;
  • Performing any other task, specific to his/her area of specialty, as defined in his/her job description and according to the line manager

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Essential diploma or recognized formal training in the assigned technical area
  • Demonstrate experience in his/her technical area (minimum 2 years’ experience)
  • Essential at least two years previous working experience. Desirable in MSF or other NGOs

  • Fluent in oral and written English and Arabic is essential.
