Background: Job Summary:The WASH officer will be assigned to oversee the WASH activities in CI operational in Gedaref but might be working in other project areas Where CARE International is operates. S/he will provide technical guidance and supervise the WASH partner staff in the planning, assessment and implementation of the stated activities in related the quality aspects, while conducting skills WASH Staff capacity development and to giving support on technical solutions of WASH issues. Leading and conducting assessments, providing technical support on WASH program design, concept papers, proposal development and technical budgeting and research , emergency response teams and assessment teams/ interagency . |

Duties and responsibilities: 1. To Support WASH technical aspect & interventions (60%) - Ensure implementation of the activities defined by the WASH Team Leader/ WASH Program Manager; - Schedule activities according to the project’s implementation plan and development of projects tools for documentation and data collection ; - Be in position to identify and anticipate challenges/problems relating to implementation of projects activities; - Be responsible for implementation of project (s) activities based on agreed detailed implementation plan (s); Identify the key hygiene messages to promote; - Follow up implementation progress of projects through regular monitoring and physical visits; - In collaboration with team, write the weekly/monthly reports on the activities.
2. Planning, Coordination and Reporting (25%) 2.1 Prepare detailed implementation plan and monthly activity plans for WASH activities in the operation area in line with Sector Annual AOP and in consultation with WASH Coordinator 2.2 Attend and represent the sector at WASH sector specific coordination meetings ,concerning operation area and other project areas and provide feedback to CI 2.3 Oversee the work of partner staff and line ministry , giving them timely feedback and assisting them to develop and implement task plans 2.4 Prepare weekly updates and monthly progress reports of WASH activities in the operation areas , bring out outputs and challenges clearly 2.5 lead the review of partners reports and action Procurement and Work plan (15%) 1.1 Requisition and organize delivery of WASH materials/tools/equipment to operation area in a timely manner with close coordination with other related WASH officers 1.2 Monitor distribution of WASH materials/tools/equipment by WSCs to households to ensure equity and accountability 1.3 Liaise with the WASH store keeper to ensure that an up to date stock inventory is kept 1.4 Liaise with procurement and finance team in related to WASH implementation and planning

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required: · Minimum of B.Sc. civil Engineering or related WASH Engineering · Good knowledge of water and sanitation issues, and hygiene practice. · Minimum 2-3 years of experience in similar position with INGO · Teamwork spirit and community mobilization skills · Computer skills: Word, Excel and power point and perfect data analysis skills, knowledge of PERIMAVERA or Microsoft Project/ AutoCAD is an asset. · Good communication skills and command of English, both written and verbal
