Background: Job Purpose:
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programmes, the Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Advisor supports the implementation of WASH projects in the Sudan country programme by WHH and its partners. He/she supports the WHH Sudan programme with technical advice on WASH across projects and ensures quality WASH outcomes and adequate representation in respective WASH sector and technical working groups. Additionally, this position contributes to: a) Further development and implementation of WHH national and global standards, guidelines and approaches b) Ensure coherence of Sudan programmes and projects with WHH national and global instruments/approaches. c) Positioning the organization in WASH field of work as competent, well known actor in the field of development and humanitarian aid in Sudan. d) Performing as Head of Project and budget holder for SDN 1193 Wash Strengthening System project. Enhancement of WHH’s sustainable services initiative (SSI) which aims to ensure WASH systems strengthening is achieved in various levels (federal, state levels) To ensure coherence with national and global approaches and standards this position has a functional/technical reporting line to the Head of respective Unit at WHH regional level and Head Office. |

Duties and responsibilities: Job Key Functions and Responsibilities:

2.3 Specific Activities and duties of the position To be filled in or described individually by the Country Director or immediate superior • Perform as Head of Project and budget holder for WASH systems strengthening activities project (SDN 1193), monitoring budget expenditure, activities implementation, developing clear planning and forecast, monitoring partners activities implementation and ensuring capacity building of the implementing partners. The Wash advisor will follow up on project indicators and outcomes (monitored through the Building Blocks Checklist, among other tools) for each target intervention area and ensure learnings and recommendations resulting from program activities at the Macro and Meso levels are taken up at policy level and lead to a replication/upscaling in other regions/districts in Sudan. • Supporting the operationalization of WHH’s sector strategy and approaches. • Support the development of new proposals aiming at high quality, multi-sectoral and integrated approach between WASH and other sectors implemented by WHH; • Organize and support capacity development (including on-the-job, remote and face-to-face, mentoring) in WASH of WHH and partner staff; • Document and disseminate best practices and success stories from WASH-related programming; • Support the recruitment process of WASH staff; • Participate in regular and ad hoc meetings (WHH) at national and regional level; • Liaising with WHH team at field level and country office level as well as with the Regional WASH Advisor. |

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required: 1. Knowledge/ Qualifications
1.1 Professional/ formal qualification Advanced level (master’s degree) in water resources engineering or civil engineering or related field. Further academic or hands-on qualification/experience in advocacy, policy development or social studies will be an added advantage.
