Background: UNDP Mission Statement:
UNDP is the UNs global development network, an organisation advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. UNDP is on the ground in 166 countries, working with national counterparts on their own solutions to global and national development challenges.
Background:
In accordance with the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and Security Council Resolution 1590, the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) has been mandated to provide support and assistance to the Government of Sudan, in the planning, development and implementation of the national disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration (DDR) programme. To this end, an Integrated UN DDR Unit (IDDRU) was established comprising of DPKO, UNDP and UNICEF for the CPA.
In addition UNDP is implementing the DDR Programme in East Sudan, in accordance with the East Sudan Peace Agreement, and is engaged with the Government of National Unity and UNAMID to set a Preparatory Support Assistance DDR Programme for Darfur.
Finally, Community Security and Arms Control (CSAC) projects are being implemented in coordination with the DDR process to limit the negative effects of small arms and light weapons proliferation and misuse on the lives of the Sudanese and on the development of Sudanese communities. |

Duties and responsibilities: General:
Under the direct supervision of the UNDP DDR Programme Manager, the Reporting Officer will be responsible for duties related to the DDR programmes in Darfur and Eastern Sudan as well as to the CSAC project.
Specific:
Conduct research and analysis on progress of project implementation and prepare reports through implementation of the following responsibilities:
Coordinate, compile and analyse inputs from IDDRU field and headquarters offices.
Liaise through the UNDP Programme Manager with North Sudan DDR Commission and other partners to prepare reports on activities and achievements.
Prepare consolidated weekly, monthly and quarterly reports for donors on the DDR programmes in Darfur and Eastern Sudan as well as CSAC projects.
Conduct analysis of data and prepare statistical analysis including graphs.
Draft lessons learned and best practices on operational and programmatic areas of the two DDR programmes and CSAC projects.
Support Programme Manager in drafting documents for internal and external distribution, including briefing notes, talking points, minutes of meetings and notes for the file.
Edit diverse documents for conciseness, relevance and style.
Enhance reporting tools and procedures:
Establish a reporting system for the DDR programmes in Darfur and Eastern Sudan, as well as for the CSAC projects.
Develop formats and templates for the various reporting requirements.
Provide advice on reporting to the programmes/projects and their counterparts and facilitate knowledge sharing and building.
Establish a database of detailed information on the implementation of the projects:
Ensure systematic filing and archiving of information received and documents produced related to area of responsibility.
Arrange all projects related information and documentation in a systematic and easily accessible manner.
Establish a delivery planning database presenting all projects, relevant work packages, commitments, disbursements, projected timelines, etc.
Ensure all projects related information is properly shared with relevant entities.
Perform any other task as requested by the UNDP Programme Manager.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required: Education:
An advanced university degree in political science, social science, international relations, development studies, conflict resolution or related fields.
Professional Experience:
At least 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience, including in a post-conflict setting.
Experience working as a Reporting Officer.
Knowledge and understanding of international DDR policy guidance standards. Previous experience in DDR programme or related field (Community Security, Small Arms Control or Security Sector Reform) will be an asset.
Experience of working in Sudan will be an asset. Knowledge of the political and economic situation in Sudan is highly desirable.
Good knowledge of the UN system and its procedures. Past experience with the UN, and UNDP in particular, would be an asset.
Analytical and Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Excellent conceptualisation and drafting skills. Ability to quickly prepare high-quality documents.
Ability to analyse and summarise complex issues both verbally and in writing.
Excellent facilitation and listening skills. Communicates sensitively and effectively across different constituencies.
Arabic skills and/or knowledge of other local languages will be a strong asset.
Partnering and Networking:
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with national and local counterparts, as well as international interlocutors.
High moral integrity, diplomacy, impartiality and discretion in a politically sensitive environment.
