 Background:

The Project Coordinator position is based within the framework of the project “Provision of Protection and Psychosocial Support services to the most vulnerable and at-risk displaced Ethiopian population in Gedaref state” implemented by the SRCS and supported by the Danish Red Cross.

 

Job purpose:

The job purpose is to provide an overall managerial and technical oversight of and responsibility over the project. He/she will ensure the quality, effective and efficient management of the project at all stages of the project cycle through staff management, budgeting, and project-related logistics and admin supports. The candidate is also expected to provide an overall technical oversight, supervision and quality assurances for the MHPSS and Protection, Gender and Inclusion (PGI) activities of the project.

He/she will be based in Gedaref with frequent travels to the project locations – Um Rakuba and Tunayba camps. He/she works in close collaboration with SRCS Branch Director and DRC Programme Delegate. He/she is responsible that all the project activities are carried out through the established SRCS structures and are based on the Fundamental principles, values and policies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement as well as MHPSS and PGI policies and guidelines

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Key responsibilities

 

 Main tasks

Project Cycle Management

  • Lead on the project implementation through developing and following-up on workplans, expenditures, procurements, progress against indicators and capacity building needs
  • Ensure the project is implemented in a quality manner, targets are reached and the budget is utilized 
  • In coordination with PMER, ensure project’s monitoring and evaluation throughout and at the end of the project implementation (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Draft monthly narrative reports and revise monthly financial reports; support drafting final report to the donor
  • Conduct regular analysis of the protection situation, needs and gaps in the target areas as to inform the project implementation

Staff Management and Capacity Development

  • Effectively and supportively supervise the project team
  • Ensure compliances with Code of Conduct, Child Protection, PSEA  and anti-corruption policies
  • Draft/update Job Descriptions for project staff. Manage  recruitment processes for the positions in the team, including drafting technical tests, interview questions and following-up on screening, short listing, interviews, offers with HR and staff appraisals.
  • Enhance the capacity of the project staff and volunteers to deliver quality and timely PSS and Protection services and activities through the formal trainings and workshops
  • Supportively supervise, coach and mentor project team on both PSS and Protection technical aspects and handling administrative responsibilities

Representation and liaison

  • Represent project activities at different coordination fora to enhance visibility of the project and establish/enhance collaboration among the relevant stakeholders
  • Conduct advocacy and Humanitarian Diplomacy activities with relevant authorities and partners promoting the SRCS and the RCRC Movement and advocating for Protection and PSS needs of the most vulnerable and at-risk  

Technical support

  • Provide technical support and oversight to the project activities through contextualization and roll out of PSS and Protection technical materials

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Personal Qualifications

Education

BA/Masters degree in Social Sciences, Law, Community Development, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology or other related fields

 

Experience and Knowledge

 

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a managerial position in a humanitarian organization or NGO
  • At least 3 years’ experience in the area of MHPSS and/or Protection
  • Strong leadership, organizational, planning and advocacy skills
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills for building synergies and collaboration with partners, beneficiaries and donor agencies
  • Ability to develop, monitor, report and evaluate PSS/Protection activities
  • Strong facilitation and representation skills
  • Experience of supervision and mentoring staff and volunteers
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Ability to effectively work remotely if necessary (via email, online)

Languages

 

  • Fluency in Arabic - spoken and written
  • Fluency in English-spoken and written
  • Good knowledge of Tigrinyan is an asset
