National Democratic Institute

 Background:

The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) seeks a Program Manager to lead the new NDI youth groups program to support more inclusive governance.

The ideal candidate will have in-depth familiarity with Sudan’s democratic transition and the role of youth groups in the transition and will provide support to ensure the implementation of program and strength the capacities of youth in different States.

Under the supervision of the Resident Country Director, the Program Manager will be responsible off the following tasks.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • managing the program including assessment, development, and implementation of policy and procedures and ensuring all program performance
  • Working with officials in the State level to identify challenges and needs for NDI assistance and collaborating with the different stakeholders.
  • collaborating with senior management team to ensure compliance with regulations in policy development/implementation,
  • Preparing written reports and presentations and deliver to appropriate audiences.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with youth organizations and resistant committees.  
  • Developing and conducting trainings related to governance; capacity building and civic engagement.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Country Director.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree (master’s or higher-level preferred) in a relevant field of study, such as but not limited to political science, history, conflict studies, international development, peacebuilding, peace and conflict resolution, organizational management, and leadership development.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of project management experience at national or international level.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in conducting need assessments and developing training modules/curriculum, training materials, etc.
  • Demonstrated experiences and skills in facilitating stakeholder/working group consultations.
  •  Relevant regional and international experience will be an added advantage.
  •  Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills in English.
  • Strong experience in research and policy-level analysis and the design, formulation, and coordinating of project activities.
  • Experience in civic education and youth engagement.

Must be available to travel to other States and community sites as needed in order to support program operations.
