UNHCR Sudan is offering an Assistant Field Officer- national officer full time position within the Field Unit in Khartoum, Sudan Representative Office. Under the direct supervision of the Head of field office Khartoum, the Assistant Field Officer will benefit from indirect guidance from other sections and units relevant to the Khartoum field office/Representation of Khartoum. UNHCR Manual, program, and protection objectives, Operations Plans, UNHCR financial/budgetary rules and regulations will guide the work of the incumbent.

The incumbent may supervise some support staffs and will have daily contacts with partners in different settlements and open areas in Khartoum state and with staffs in the functional units at the Khartoum field office/Regional Office. S/he will also have close liaison with a range of local civilian and military authorities and counterparts in I/NGOs and UN agencies to discuss matters of common interest.

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

The Assistant Field Officer will be accountable to perform her/his duties as reflected in this job description. S/he will do so within their delegated authorities, in line with the regulatory framework of UNHCR which includes the UN Charter, UN Staff Regulations and Rules, UNHCR Policies and Administrative Instructions as well as relevant accountability frameworks. In addition, the Assistant Field Officer will be required to discharge her/his responsibilities in a manner consistent with the core, functional, cross-functional, and managerial competencies and UNHCR’s core values of professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity. The main responsibilities of the Assistant Field Officer will be to:

  • Assess the protection and assistance needs of persons of concern in Khartoum state and formulate project submissions for protection interventions in collaboration with local authorities and implementing partners.
  • Provide inputs for periodic narrative and financial reports for the annual programme
  • Monitor the implementation of assistance projects and programmes and handle the provision of assistance to persons of concern to UNHCR in Khartoum state.
  • In coordination with the protection staffs and COR, register applicants for voluntary repatriation and family reunification.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly sectoral reports and submit material for preparation of periodic project monitoring reports and year-end reports.
  • Develop and maintain relations with local authorities ensuring smooth negotiations in all aspects of UNHCR's mandate for the benefit of the refugees.
  • Monitor the security situation in the area and intervene as appropriate with the local authorities.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

 

 

 

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education & Professional Work Experience

 

  • 3 years relevant experience with Undergraduate degree; or 2 years relevant experience with Graduate degree; or 1-year relevant experience with Doctorate degree in Law, Political Sciences or other relevant fields.
  • 3 Years’ experiences in the field.
  • Good knowledge of UNHCR program
