Social Media Associate Officer

 Background:

The Ministry of Finance, Republic of Sudan has received a grant from the World Bank (WB) and the Friends of Sudan through the Sudan Transition and Recovery Support (STARS) Multi-Donor Trust Fund in the amount of US $400 million and administered by the World Bank towards the cost of Sudan Family Support Program and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, nonconsenting services and consulting services to be procured under Sudan Family Support Program (SFSP) (P173521) project.

SFSP aims is to deliver cash transfers and improve safety net systems to support Sudanese families affected by economic reforms and other short-term shocks. Specifically, the program will provide five US dollars to each eligible family member per month, initially for six months. The end of the program target is to reach 80% of the population, about 32 million citizens. The identification of families that enroll should be validated against the national civil registry. Families should have the option of establishing digital wallets through which they will receive the cash transfer. Where digital payments are not possible non-digital alternatives must be provided. The business processes and information flows must be secure, auditable, and efficient, focused on citizens, and protect their privacy and rights.

 

The Objective

Given the fact the important role of Online Communication and Social Media in public discourse, Thamarat’is seeking to hire a competent candidate based on the criteria described below for the position of Online Communication Associate who will be working under the direct supervision of the Communication& Outreach Manager.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • To Manage ‘Thamarat’ social media channels, including Facebook, Linked In, Twitter, and other relevant online platforms.
  • To engage in social media presence creation on new and emerging social media platforms.
  • To share designed graphic, and video content on ‘Thamarat’ social media pages and the website
  • To promot ‘Thamarat’ messages and public and outreach materials to increases the program visibility on social media and other online platforms
  • To respond to journalists and public enquiries on online platforms.
  • To keep track of social media trending topics that are relevant to‘Thamarat’ and design and participate in implementing online communication campaigns
  • To ensure that ‘Thamarat’ website is up-to-date with accurate materials both in English and Arabic languages.
  • To deliver monthly reports with statistics and results for social media account and website (viewers, contributors; media and public inquire).
  • To present innovative ideas and mechanisms of the online communication content and presence.
  • To collaborate with other communication and community outreach departments to ensure consistency of ‘Thamarat’ narrative and brand.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • At least a bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, PR& marketing, or any other relevant fields.

Skills and competencies:

  • Excellent writing, communication, and computer skills.
  • A good understanding of social media visibility and marketing techniques.
  • More than 5 years of relevant working experience in online communications at the national or international level in public relations, communications, or advocacy.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills and ability with relevant ministry staff, partners, as well as beneficiaries;
  • Knowledge and understanding of communication regulation of Sudan; and
  • Excellent communication in Arabic as well as in English.
