The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is seeking for qualified candidate to fill the following post:

 Background:

Field Associate will be under overall supervision of the Head of Sub Office (HoSO) and work directly with the team to support delivery of the  UNHCR  project which aims to support peacebuilding efforts and to contribute towards a conducive environment for durable solutions for Sudanese internally displaced populations, refugees, and host communities, through life-saving quick impact humanitarian interventions, through projects under Central Emergency Relief Fund (CERF) and Danish funding in South Kordofan State(SKS). The project implementing in Kadugli, Talawdi, Abu Kershola, Abu Jubaihah, El Leri and Rashad Locality and its activities WASH, Education, NFIs and Shelter, Community self-management and health.

 

2. Operational Context

 

The Field Associate will be based in Kadugli sub office and reported direct to the Assistant Field officer / protection officer and performs a variety of functions related to Field activities within the office. The supervisor defines general work objectives and provides necessary advice and guidance. The Field Associate may supervise some General Service support staff.

 

The Field associate accountable to perform his/ her duties as reflected in their job description. They do so within the delegated authorities, in line with the regulatory framework of UNHCR which includes the UN Charter, UN Staff Regulations and Rules, UNHCR Policies and Administrative Instructions as well as relevant accountability frameworks. In addition, staff members are required to discharge their responsibilities in a manner consistent with the core, functional, cross-functional, and managerial competencies and UNHCR¿s core values of professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity.   

 

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Monitor the situation in the AoR, collect data and other information relevant to UNHCR and report to the supervisor accordingly.
  • Monitor the implementation of UNHCR programme including the delivery of all assistance items and monitoring of infrastructure.
  • Undertake regular visits to various sites in order to assess needs of persons of concern, with particular attention to vulnerable groups.
  • Keep regular contacts with local authorities and implementing partners as requested by supervisor.
  • Act as interpreter when required.
  • Contribute to the preparation of status and progress reports by providing info, preparing tables, etc.
  • Assist in administrative tasks as required such as preparation of reports and meeting authorized personnel and assisting them during field missions.
  • Inform and act on the reports received on persons of concern within the refugee community or from the local authorities.
  • In coordination with implementing partners, assist in the reception, registration, and provision of assistance to persons of concern to UNHCR.
  • other relevant duties as required.

 

4. Monitoring and Progress Controls

     

The Field Associate should work to:

  • Identify potential gaps and problems and in cooperation with other relevant sections /units recommend appropriate solutions to ensure the efficient implementation of programme activities.
  • Contribute to ensure consistent and coherent monitoring approaches, tools and systems within the Area of Responsibility (AoR), in line with global standards and polices.
  • Contribute to the successful aplication of the framework for implementing with partners, including the effective implementation.

 

 

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

a. Education:

 

  • Completion of the Secondary Education with post-secondary training/certificate in Business Administration, Law, Political Science, or related field.
  • Computer skills.

 

b. Work Experience

 

  • Minimum 6 years of previous job experience relevant to the function.
  • Demonstrated experience in Monitoring and evaluation including sound knowledge Results Based-Management. Demonstrated experience in field operations, sound knowledge on the centrality of protection, Joint Needs Assessments.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordination within an inter-agency context and other actors, in a refugee, IDPs or humanitarian context.
