Human Resources Specialist (HRS)

 Duty Station: Khartoum - with occasional regional travel.
 Duration: 1- Year (with 3 month probation)

 Background:

Founded in 1996, the Sudanese Development Initiative (SUDIA) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization working for peace, development and good governance in Sudan.

SUDIA is seeking an HR Specialist to join its team and monitor all Human Resources functions. The HR Specialist responsibilities include preparing compensation and benefits packages, recruiting & assigning interns, setting up company policies and maintaining updated employee records. To be successful in this role, the candidate should have a good understanding of the full cycle recruiting and solid knowledge of local labor legislation. Ultimately, the HR Specialist will foster a healthy workplace by ensuring SUDIA’s HR procedures run smoothly at all times.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

General responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare and review compensation and benefits packages.
• Administer HR related programs.
• Ensure timely payment of regulatory HR dues.
• Implement training and development plans.
• Plan quarterly and annual performance review sessions.
• Inform employees about additional benefits they might be eligible for.
• Update employee records with new hire information and/or changes in employment status.
• Maintain organizational charts and detailed job descriptions along with salary records.
• Forecast hiring needs and ensure recruitment process runs smoothly.
• Recruit, evaluate, and assign interns to various departments as required.
• Develop and implement HR policies throughout the organization.
• Update and publish monthly staff HR reports (e.g., attendance, leave balances, etc.).
• Process employees’ queries and respond in a timely manner.
• Stay up to date to ensure compliance with changes in labour legislation.
 

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: 
• Minimum academic qualification: BSc/MSc in Human Resources or relevant field.
• A minimum of 3 years proven work experience as an HR Specialist (preferably within the NGO sector).
• Hands-on experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
• Solid understanding of labor legislation and payroll processes.
• Familiarity with full cycle recruiting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good problem-solving abilities.
• Team management skills.
• Confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information and documents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English\Arabic).
• Excellent time management, organizational and teamwork skills.
