Background:
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The Protection Associate (Child) is a member of the Child Protection unit which falls within the Protection Section. He/she monitors protection standards, operational procedures and practices in protection delivery in line with international standards and provides functional protection support to information management and programme staff. The Protection Associate (Child) is expected to coordinate quality, timely and effective protection responses to the needs of populations of concern, primarily children of concern and identify opportunities to mainstream Child Protection methodologies and integrate protection safeguards in operational responses in all sectors. He/she contributes to designing a comprehensive child protection strategy and liaises externally with authorities and partners on protection doctrine and policy as guided by the supervisor. The Protection Associate (Child) also ensures that persons of concern under area of responsibility are involved with the Office in making decisions that affect them, whether in accessing their rights or in identifying appropriate solutions to their problems. To achieve this, the incumbent will need to build and maintain effective interfaces with communities of concern, local authorities and protection and assistance partners.

Duties and responsibilities:
Accountability Under the overall supervision of the Senior Protection Officer and under the day-to-day supervision of Protection Officer (Child), the Protection Associate (Child) will be responsible for:

- Support the protection team with case management of individual identified child protection cases, particularly child VOT and UASC cases in liaison with government authorities, implementing and operational partners; - Follow-up on child Protection cases, including family reunification cases, alternative care arrangements, BIA/BID processes, including referrals (in accordance with SOPs).
