 Background:

This vacancy is open for local recruitment for Sudanese nationals only.

 Duties and responsibilities:

Under the general supervision of the dispatcher the Driver will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Drive vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel and general cargo as required.
  • Collect and delivers mail, documents, and other items.
  • Meet official personnel at the airport.
  • Deal effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors.
  • Ensure that vehicles are kept clean. Perform daily check of oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.; arrange for minor and major repairs when required.
  • Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.
  • Ensure that the required steps as established by Transport and UN Security are taken in case of involvement in an accident. 
  • Assist the workshop in the preparation of trucks for field trips, such as changing wheels, cleaning air filters, and general check-over.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education: Completion of high school diploma or equivalent. Possesses a valid driver’s license (category B&C)

Work Experience: A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience as a driver with a safe driving record. Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, light passenger vehicles, sedans, heavy and light 4x4 sports utility vehicles (SUV's), ambulances and pick-up trucks, cargo and passenger van.

Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of other United Nations language is desirable.
