 Background:

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an impartial, neutral and independent organisation striving to protect and assist victims of armed conflict and internal violence, has been working in Sudan since 1978. The ICRC is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person for the position of Health Field Officer 1 for its sub-delegation in Damazin – Blue Nile State. 

 

Purpose:

Health Field Officer 1 contributes to implementing, running and monitoring the health programme(s), in cooperation with the KHA health team, according to the objectives set out in the delegation’s annual planning (PfR), for field health activities in Damazin, Blue Nile State.

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

·         Implements health programmes in his/ her geographic area or field of responsibility/expertise

·         Conducts assessments and regular field visits (as relevant) to monitor activities and health -related threats to the population

·         Facilitates field trips (as relevant) and helps communicate with the local population / beneficiaries

·         Ensures proper management of information collected and produces the subsequent reports.

·         Participates in analysis of and reflection on the overall health situation; contributes to realistic project proposals in line with the delegation’s objectives and priorities.

·         Helps organize meetings; advises staff members on matters such as culture, politics, security, etc.

·         Interprets at meetings and translates documents into local languages.

·         Carries out logistical tasks regarding medical items, including staff-health issues, and organizes distributions to beneficiaries in the field when required.

·         Liaises and builds networks with local stakeholders to facilitate communication on and coordination of activities, thereby ensuring more efficient implementation of health programmes. ·         May represent the ICRC vis-à-vis beneficiaries, local authorities, humanitarian players, armed groups etc.

 

 

 

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

·         Studies in Medicine, Nursing or other relevant paramedical health profession (incl. Psychology)

·         Good knowledge of Sudanese health system (e.g. Federal and State structure)

·         Additional vocational training in public health, humanitarian area, socio-economic development, humanitarian law, human rights or equivalent field will be an asset.

·         Minimum 2 years work in relevant clinical context

·         Good knowledge of the assigned geographic area.

·         Advanced Conversational skills in English and Arabic

·         Well versed in geo-political situation in Sudan and how it affects the public health

·         Readiness to spend 50-75% of the time in the field

·         Driving licence

·         Skilled in the following competencies: Leadership, Accountability, People management, Team work & Collaboration, Beneficiary & Client focused.
