 Background:

The Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) and the Swiss Red Cross (SRC), who have been working together since 2011 in Sennar State, began a new partnership in North Kordofan state in 2018. The partners ran an assessment in the latter half of 2018 in West Bara locality to identify the priority needs and options for intervention. From this assessment, the West Bara Integrated Community Health (WBICH) Project was jointly developed by the partners, to be implemented in 10 target villages from West Bara Locality and aiming to reduce morbidity and mortality related to waterborne diseases and maternal health.

 

Main Job Purpose:

To contribute to the efficient, effective and sustainable implementation of SRCS/Swiss Red Cross WBICH project, in accordance with required quality standards, in order to address beneficiary needs. In collaboration with SRC Delegate, the Project Coordinator will ensure the successful implementation of the WBICH project and build the project team capacities.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Responsible for:

  • Management and implementation of the WBICHP according to project documents; logframe, operation plan, M&E plan and budget
  • Management of project team including recruitment and induction support, activity planning and follow-up, and performance appraisals
  • Ensure that project complies with HR, finance, procurement, and logistics procedures
  • Reporting on project activity and indicator progress monthly, quarterly, annually using prescribed templates
  • Coordination and representation of project in relevant forums and with project stakeholders

 

Main Duties:

  1. Project Management
  • Ensure completion of SRCS/SRC project in West Bara in line with signed project documents, budget, logframe, and operation plan
  • Supervise project activityimplementation by project officers
  • Ensure that project isimplemented in accordance with the SRC, SRCS and donor policies and guidelines
  • Undertake regular support and monitoring visits to project sites and participate in project events when required
  • Ensure that governance structures, such as project steering committees, are operational and mobilised in line with project documents
  • Develop, in collaboration with project team, the annual operation plan
  • Lead the project review and propose adjustments to SRCS and SRC
  • Conduct punctual project surveys and evaluation in collaboration with the Monitoring Officer
  • Ensure best practices and lesson learnt are documented
  • Suggest new ideas for projects and interventions
  • Participate in field assessments for the development of new projects and actions
  • Support the production of new project proposals

 

  1. Team management
  • Support the recruitment of national project staff in accordance with SRCS and SRC procedures
  • Organise introduction and project induction for newly recruited staff
  • Develop training and capacity building plan for project team
  • Facilitate weekly team meetings
  • Ensure staff appraisals are completed for all project staff in accordance with SRCS procedures
  • Ensure project staff are adequately equipped in both information and materials to fulfil their tasks
  • Develop an HR plan, holiday plan and maintain the HR tool (contract dates, annual leave, etc.)

 

  1. Administrative, Financial, Procurement and Logistical Supervision
  • Monitor project’s financial management in coordination with SRC delegates, SRCS Finance Director, SRCS-SRC accountant, and project Finance Officer
  • Ensure that project cash and fund requests are submitted within deadlines
  • Ensure that qualitative financial reports are submitted within deadlines to SRCS and SRC
  • Follow up on issues raised by SRC/SRCS teams related to project expenditure
  • Supervise the storage of all project assets, including their input in project inventory, in accordance with procedures and tools
  • Ensure that procurementscomply with financial procedure and policies
  • Ensure the completion and archiving of project donation certificates

 

  1. Reporting
  • Ensure high quality and timely completion of monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports as per prescribed templates and timetable
  • Provide report translation when required
  • Ensure the maintenance of an up to date library of project documents, project case studies, articles and photographs
  • Ensure diffusion of progress reports amongst stakeholders in accordance with multiparter agreement

 

  1. Coordination and representation
  • Act as the Project manager in close collaboration with SRC Field Delegate
  • Support the development of the multi-partner project agreement between SRCS-SRC, Ministry of Health, Water Corporation, North Kordofan and West Bara local authorities
  • Coordinate with stakeholdersin North Kordofan working in West Bara and/or on community heath
  • Maintain a strong, collaborative relationship between SRCS and SRC, ensuring regular coordination
  • Represent the WBICH projectin myriad fora as may be required

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferable
  • Experience in projectmanagement
  • Minimumof 6 years workexperience
  • 4years’work experience with international/national organizations in humanitarian sector
  • Proven experience in team management
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written (compulsory)
  • Good Computer knowledge of MS, Word, Excel (compulsory)
  • Knowledge of budget follow up and forecasting is an asset
  • Ability to work as part of an international team
  • Able to work in stressful environment
  • Willing to regularly overnight in project villages (mandatory)
  • Good communicationskills
