FUNCTION 1 (INCL. EXPECTED RESULTS)
Encourages local disease control programmes in developing comprehensive plans for the implementation national policies and guidelines, achieving results such as:
• Planning and implementation of field activities related to vector control and prevention for the disease.
• Therapeutic efficacy studies in the designated areas.
• Site data review, advice on any gaps and appropriate corrections or amendments.
• Preparation of technical and periodic reports through the national reporting system.
• Development and update of detailed plans of work for control of the respective communicable disease
• Structured supervision sites using standardized tools (IPTCS) to monitor service delivery.
FUNCTION 2 (INCL. EXPECTED RESULTS)
Monitors and coordinates the implementation of planned activities, national campaigns and field action, achieving results such as:
• Monitoring visits and technical supervision of the project-partnered hospitals in the designated areas, ensuring that each hospital is regularly visited, and mission reports are produced and submitted on time.
• Regular communication and liaison between implementing partners and WHO.
• Close coordination with MOH on issues involving emerging and re-emerging infectious/communicable diseases with a potential to affect the health system.
• In consultation with the WHO Medical Officer, preparation of supervisory visits to the various sites and writing of quarterly reports.
• Coordination of the implementation of comprehensive disease information system(s); monitor and evaluate system for each designated area; analysis of epidemiological data, development and dissemination of reports to target partners.
• Development and smooth running of online surveillance applications on request of MOPH and/or stake holders.
• Analysis of surveillance and epidemiological data and technical/analytical inputs to MOH for strengthening the immunization programme(s).
FUNCTION 3 (INCL. EXPECTED RESULTS)
Manages training initiatives to strengthen capacity at various levels, achieving results such as:
• Identification of training needs for respective target audiences and development of comprehensive plans for capacity building
• Preparation of training material tailored to the specific needs.
• Organisation and delivery of training activities to various target groups, e.g. to improve case management and prevention at community, Primary and Community Health Care (PHC) and hospital level.
• Assessment of impact of training and capacity building activities.
