 Duration: One-year renewable, with three-month probation

 Background:

GOAL has been working in Sudan since 1985, towards ensuring the poorest and most vulnerable in our world and those affected by humanitarian crises have access to the fundamental rights of life, including but not limited to adequate shelter, food and livelihoods, water and sanitation, nutrition,  healthcare and education. GOAL implements a range of multi-sectoral development, resilience, recovery and humanitarian responses programmes by being sensitive to cross-cutting issues including gender, accountably, child protection, HIV/AIDS.

GOAL is currently working directly in North Darfur State. The current GOAL programmes focus on four main sectors:  Primary Health Care, Nutrition, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL).

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

DESCRIPTION OF NORTH DARFUR PROGRAMME:  

GOAL has been operational in North Darfur since 2003 with initial project in NFI distribution, the current intervention are in Primary Health Care, Nutrition, WASH and Livelihoods. Programme are implemented both directly and through partner organizations.

General Description of the Role:

The main purpose of this position is to support GOAL El Fashier office in the provision of dependable service to programs team with particular assistance in administration, stock, assets, fleet, facilities among other activities, in order to achieve GOAL’s current programme objectives.  

Key Duties:

  • Support the Area Coordinator in performing the logistical function and overall administration of offices and guest house for conducive environment.
  • Submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports
  • Implement other activities as identified by Logistics Manager and / or Area Coordinator

Logistics

Support the Area Coordinator and the Logistics Manager in the following activities:

  • Organise all GOAL transport within North Darfur and ensure vehicle booking system is in place
  • Managing movement of personnel and cargo within North Darfur and North Darfur to Khartoum by flight/ road
  • Completing monthly flight report and monthly fleet report and submit to Logistics Manager
  • Ensuring all vehicles travelling to / from field have at least one means of communication whether VHF radio or Thuraya
  • Maintaining GOAL North Darfur assets register and ensure it accurately records GOAL assets
  • Ensure all assets in office / in transit and in store are comprehensively insured
  • Management of the guest house and office supplies

Administration

Support the Area Coordinator and Logistics Manager in the following activities:

  • Prepare all l requests for local procurement ensuring all purchases include the correct paperwork
  • Ensure that the local procurement tracking sheet is updated weekly for administrative purchases
  • Prepare plans for future office and program needs and ensure timely procurement of necessary goods
  • Ensure that all administrative activities adhere to GOAL procedures and are fully document using GOAL forms and templates and maintaining on file
  • Maintain proper systems of filing and ensure that the field office has all relevant technical material on site.
  • Ensure all GOAL guidelines are adhered to and adapted as necessary
  • To work always in a manner that promotes teamwork within GOAL and assists in the achievement of GOAL’s programme aims.
  • Day to day management of the Cleaners in the guest house and in office, this includes supervision and training
  • Inspect the cleaning in office and guest house ensuring standard performance to acceptable level
  • Ensure cleaning supplies are always available for use.
  • Prepare a purchase request for office and guest house supplies in a timely manner.
  • All other duties as instructed by Head of Office.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum education requirement is a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • At least 3 years work experience at field officer level with an international INGO which includes role in logistics and administrations.
  • Experience in volatile security environment
  • Outgoing personality with excellent communication skills.
  • Good team player, flexible and capable of working with a diverse team.
  • Appreciation of and sensitivity to local culture.
  • Excellent written and spoken English / Arabic
  • Good computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
