Our interventions are in early childhood education, health and nutrition, income generation and sustainable livelihoods. We serve all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.

World Vision Khartoum seeking to recruit qualified Faith and Development National Coordinator based in Khartoum.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

This Purpose of Position will be used in the WVI Careers site, and if applicable, advertisements. Please describe the role in 2-3 concise sentences. To provide strategic leadership and technical support in

  1. Development, integration and implementation of Faith and Development standards, policies, and guidelines for the equipping of all staff to live and consistently communicate  Faith and Development and calling with boldness and humility
  2. Strengthening evidence of integration of faith and calling in WVS ministry practices including staff recruitment, resource mobilization, humanitarian response, project models and campaigns
  3. Establishing and cultivating strategic partnerships with the Churches and other faith actors (Pastors and Imams) in Sudan and other Faith Based Organizations to strengthen contribution to child wellbeing aspirations and outcomes

  • Support the Faith and Development Team in determining and executing approaches that best contribute to the realization of WVS strategy
  • Contribute to strategic decision making  processes in Senior Management team and advise SLT on F&D matters
  • Ensure that all leaders and staff have regular, quality materials and opportunities for reflections on how to live and consistently communicate WV Christian faith and calling with boldness and humility

 

·Continuous Improvement in performance on F&D issues through sustained and targeted engagement and coaching for the delivery of F&D AOP

Program staffs, Senior Management Team and SLT equipped with the necessary tools

  • Ensure that Faith and Development standards, policies and guidelines are circulated, contextualized, implemented, reviewed as necessary

 

  • Program staffs, Senior Management Team and SLT have access to and reflect on Faith and Development standards, policies, and guidelines
  • Program staffs, Senior Management Team and SLT applying Faith and Development standards, policies, and guidelines in decision making and operations

  • Lead in the provision of the needed technical support in the development, integration and implementation of Faith and Development project models and campaigns in WVS

 

  • Faith and Development project models and approaches Integrated with Technical Programs including in the M&E framework
  • Faith and Development project models and approaches reported on in the semi-annual and  annual reports

  • Establish and cultivate strategic engagements and partnerships with  Faith Leaders and other Faith Based organizations for contribution to child wellbeing and outcomes
  • Church and other faith communities partnering with WV in advocacy and development activities at national and state Program levels
  • Formalization of working relations with church and other faith based organizations through MOUs and Work agreements

  • Perform any other duty as may be assigned by supervisor or designee from time to time.
  • Participate and contribute in teams, committees and task forces appointed to including Senior Management Team, National  Disaster Management Committee, Risk Committee, National Resource Development Team among others

 

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development, Theology with an emphasis on missions and development from a recognized institution.
  2. Postgraduate education/studies in Development, Theology with an emphasis on missions and development or related field will be an added advantage 

List additional work experience required as a minimum qualification for this position.

  1. At least five years’ experience two in leadership position working in International Development Organizations
  2. Proven ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan and manage programs as well as transfer knowledge and skills.
  3. Must have proven analytical, problem solving skills and ability to work with minimum supervision.
  4. Proven ability to cultivate long term partnerships with faith community

 

License, registration, or certification required to perform this position:

  3. Must be well respected in society for Faith values and professionalism
  4. Good knowledge and commitment to WV’s ethos, philosophy of work, and CORE documents.
  5. Senior leadership role in a church and/or para church organization strongly desired

FREEDOM TO ACT

Describe decision-making responsibilities this position may have that do not require prior approval. Specify what actions are necessary in order to facilitate the completion of the specific tasks and how it is reviewed.

The following decisions may be made without prior approval,

  1. Decisions to execute the approved AOP and FY budgets. These decisions may be reported in the Monthly management report, reviewed during monthly review meetings or as often as consultations may require   
  2. Decisions on performance on staff reporting to this position provided that they are in accordance with the set policies and, support execution of AOP as spelt out in their JDs and Performance agreements.  
  3. Decisions to engage with partners, collaborators  in the implementation of the approved AOP provided the engagement follow they laid down guidelines and are within the approved budget

  1. Decisions to take disciplinary action on staff reporting must be in done in consultation with supervisor of this position and People and Culture following the laid down procedures
  2. Decisions on signing, termination of MOUs with partners must be done in consultation with the supervisor to this position, legal advisor and other necessary departments
  3. Decisions that might significantly affect negatively on the AOP and the Budget must be done in consultation with  supervisor of this position and finance

 


Describe the most common way in which this position assign work and how it is reviewed.  Indicate how assignment is given, by what method (verbal or written), by whom, how often, how work is evaluated, and type of guidance available.

The position assigns work to its direct reports in writing but there are few cases where verbal instructions may be given but as much as it would be practical it would be followed by email. Reviewing of work even when done verbally, shall be documented in writing and where such work requires authentication, it shall be done in writing too. The position shall be available for consultations when the tasks are being performed for guidance. Most of the tasks are given on weekly and the major ones on monthly basis and are reviewed on same intervals. Performance appraisals though done and evaluated on a continuous basis, they are reviewed and appraised on 6 and 12 months respectively

In some cases, the position may need support from other departments. In such cases, requests shall be done on mail for such assignments and follow the laid down reporting lines to have the tasks assigned and reported.
