 Background:

The role will support the implementation of World Vision Sudan communication and advocacy strategy through the development of appropriate communication resources to profile the brand and visibility ofWV Sudan. Specifically, the role will ensure that the right communications and advocacy resources are sought, developed and shared with the relevant audiences.

 

The role requires an experienced and enthusiastic communications professional who is a strategic thinker, a relationship builder, a planner and an implementer who will be able to complement other members in the team.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Emergency Communications

  • Gathering stories, taking photographs, video clips during emergencies.
  • Writing impact stories, Situation Reports (Sitreps), updates, Q&As, selecting photosand writing captions.
  • Dispatching the stories, photos, video clips and captions to World Vision relief website, Digital Media Centre,WV Photo Library) SOs and WVSudan website.

Advocacy and policy 

  • Prepare Advocacy messaging and Q&As based on priority issues identified in the context analysis and review and update them where changes in context require it
  • Identify key stakeholders at community level, building relationships and engaging them effectively
  • Facilitate advocacy initiatives, campaigns and events
  • Identify advocacy opportunities 
  • Prepare Advocacy messaging and Q&As based on priority issues identified in the context analysis and review and update them where changes in context require it
  • Develop media resources that promote WV policy positions​​​​​​​

 

Grant communications

  • Writing high impact stories, taking and editing photographs and video clips for SOs (Share) and WV Sudan website
  • Packaging stories and pictures with captions for sharing on Story Hub, WV Sudan website
  • Providing any other information required by donors and support offices.

Internal Communications

  • Day-to-day management of WV Sudan website.
  • Supporting other divisions/functions document project/program experiences, publicise the work within the WV Partnership and on WV Sudan website.
  • Support to other WV Sudan department with editing, photography, publications and production of IEC materials.
  • Support the compilation of WV Sudan Internal newsletter and   External Annual newsletter.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Content creation and management
  • Storytelling
  • Digital communication and social media management
  • Advocacy and policy experience
  • Stakeholder mapping and engagement
  • Campaign management
  • A first degree in communications studies, Journalism/Media Studies, or related field.
  • Excellent writing and photographic skills (additional skills in word processing, excel and desktop publishing are advantageous).
  • An energetic, analytical and self-starting approach to projects that involve significant responsibility and fixed deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Ability to work harmoniously within teams, often while under pressure
  • Ability to traveland work in the field as anessential and frequent function of the position.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Basic graphic designing and editing skills

  • Based in Darfur and ability to travel to different states
  • English and Arabic
