 Background:

I. Job Summary:
As part of CARE International in Sudan’s emergency response under the ECHO-funded project, the Cash Assistant will support the implementation of cash assistance activities in Khartoum. This includes assisting with community outreach, beneficiary registration and verification, distribution of cash assistance, and post-distribution monitoring. The Cash Assistant will work under the supervision of the Cash Program Officer and support day-to-day field operations to ensure the program runs efficiently and in compliance with CARE and donor standards.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

1. Field Implementation Support (50%) - Support the Cash Program Officer in organizing and carrying out cash assistance activities in targeted areas. - Assist in community mobilization and awareness-raising about program objectives and criteria. - Help in the registration and verification of eligible beneficiaries, ensuring accuracy and completeness. - Participate in and support cash distributions, ensuring proper documentation and beneficiary communication. - Maintain order and support conflict resolution during field activities.
2. Monitoring and Community Feedback (20%) - Conduct follow-up visits to gather feedback from beneficiaries and communities. - Assist with post-distribution monitoring (PDM) surveys and ensure data is accurately collected. - Report any protection concerns, complaints, or risks observed during field activities to the Cash Program Officer.
3. Coordination and Liaison (15%) - Liaise with local leaders, partner organizations, and community groups to support smooth implementation. - Represent CARE respectfully in the community and ensure good collaboration at the local level.
4. Reporting and Documentation (10%) - Ensure that all field data and documentation (e.g. beneficiary lists, distribution forms) are properly recorded and submitted. - Assist in preparing short field activity reports and summaries.
5. Compliance and Safeguarding (5%) - Adhere to CARE’s safeguarding and accountability policies at all times. - Support implementation of feedback and complaints mechanisms. - Report any irregularities, fraud, or safeguarding issues immediately to the supervisor.
 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Required Qualifications and Competencies:
• At least 1 year of experience working in humanitarian or development settings, ideally in cash/voucher or livelihoods programs.
• Good understanding of community mobilization and field-level implementation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
• Good knowledge of the local context in Khartoum.
• Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word).
• Commitment to CARE values, especially accountability, inclusion, and safeguarding.
Languages:
• Fluency in Arabic is required.
• Basic English (written and spoken) is preferred
