Background: JOB SUMMARY Islamic Relief Worldwide –Sudan Country Office (IRW) is an international non profitable non-governmental humanitarian relief organization, began working in Sudan in 1984 with its head quarter in UK-Birmingham. It enjoys consultative status with the Economic and social Council of the United Nations and is a signatory to the Code of Conduct for International Red Cross and red Crescent Moments and NGOs in Disaster Relief. IRW Sudan commenced its operations in Sudan since 1991 inside the country and since then, IRW Sudan has provided assistances in emergency relief, livelihood and food security, women empowerment and girl education, orphans sponsorship, basic health services, emergency education, shelter and seasonal programmes (Ramadan and Qurbani).
PURPOSE OF DIVISION: Through capacity building and through technical and programme support, the International Programme Division keeps the organization focused on the socio-economic and humanitarian needs of vulnerable people. The division reinforces IR’s implementing structure to enable these people and their communities to develop themselves sustainably and ensures that the organization is prepared to respond promptly and effectively to humanitarian crises. The division increases the organization’s ability to tackle poverty by developing and fostering partnerships and institutional relationships effectively and proactively, and by ensuring transparent and timely reporting to the organization’s donors.
PURPOSE OF DEPARTMENT: The purpose of the Regional Department, besides preparing for and responding to humanitarian crises with relevant departments, is to guide, support and monitor the country’s programmes to ensure the continuous development of a global programme according to International Strategy. |

Duties and responsibilities: JOB PURPOSE: As part of its strategic growth, a new role has arisen within the organisation for a Business Development Manager. S/he will help to devise, develop and deliver a comprehensive strategic and tactical plan for business development; use an entrepreneurial approach in working with IRSD staff (including programme, Communication, finance, and MEAL) to develop and submit high quality donor proposals and tender bids that are aligned with IRSD’s priorities, demonstrate impact, and offer value for money. S/he is proactive in identifying new and non-traditional sources of funding from a range of institutional, corporate and community donors and working with IRSD’s country/field staff and other fundraising teams to leverage IRK’s funding prospects. S/he builds the capacity of IRSD country offices to develop and manage strategic consortium partnerships with other INGOs, Local NGOs and private sector organisations where appropriate. Skills development and capacity building of IRSD staff is also a key part of the role through training, mentoring, and feedback on proposal development processes, fundraising strategies and donor scoping activities To coordinate these activities, IRSD is looking for a strong influencer and negotiator, who is self-motivated and has a proven track record of business development, marketing and communication. S/he should be capable of radical thinking, developing new and innovative strategies for communicating IRSD’s values/strengths/achievements/lessons, all the time working in a diplomatic and practical manner to ensure that change is delivered in a sustainable way.
