Muslim Aid is a faith-based British international charity that provides help to people who are victims of natural disasters, conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, disease and illiteracy. It was established in the United Kingdom in 1985 in response to the drought in the Horn of Africa. Muslim Aid's Sudan Country office (MASCO) was set up in 1991 in response to the strategic need and to enable the continuation of effective aid work in the country. Currently, Muslim Aid is implementing projects in Kassala, Central Darfur and Red Sea State , Algazieera State , Gdarief State in Sudan.

 Background:

To be responsible for the day-to-day general financial functions of the Muslim Aid Country Office, assisting the Finance Officer in Khartoum - Finance Department and supporting finance staff. This includes financial management, partner capacity building, budgeting, donor reporting and general accounting support.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee processes and procedures so they meet MA and Donor requirements. 
  • Maintain daily cash on hand at required MA Sudan levels and for program operations. 
  • Handle Cash and Bank transactions and reconcile daily basis.
  • Prepare General Voucher with the correct GL code, Project Code, and Activity Code in a timely manner and post it to MA Accounting Software
  • Ensure financial reporting as required is prepared accurately and reviewed thoroughly.
  • Assist to Prepare donor financial reports and ensure they are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Ensure financial accountability by requiring all staff to provide proper documentation and signatures on vouchers, PR, purchase orders, or payments of any kind. 
  • Ensure all purchases follow MA procurement and selection policies.
  • Work with HR Officer to prepare monthly salaries, Incentives to Volunteer ensuring appropriate documentation and oversight.
  • Ensure proper Tax /VAT/Income tax calculation and make a deposit to the revenue department. 
  • Ensure the appropriateness of all monetary or banking transactions. 
  • Oversee bank transactions, including opening, closing and reconciliation of bank accounts.
  • Ensure proper paperwork on financial transactions of any kind between MA and other parties or partners (accounts receivables, payables, etc.). 
  • Ensure safety protocols are established and followed by all staff.
  • Set up tools, processes or documentation as needed or required to improve the monitoring and oversight of any financial processes described above. 
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor. 

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications:
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred.
  • Professional and excellent customer service skills.

Other professional qualifications such as Finance certificated Desirable
Experience & knowledge:
  • 1-year experience in Finance within an International non-profit organization.
  • Computer knowledge and experience using Microsoft Suite (mainly Excel) and other accounting and data input software.
  • Excellent communicator, both spoken and written.
