With an annual program value of over $30 million, CRS provides lifesaving assistance to address the needs of the most vulnerable in conflict-affected and natural disaster-prone areas, and implements longer term programs to respond to climate and conflict-related shocks and build resilience through skills building and preparedness, enhancing basic services, and strengthening linkages between local communities and government.  CRS Sudan works with and through a wide network of local and international partners and has more than 175 national and international staff based in Khartoum, West and Central and East Darfur, and in Port Sudan.

Job Summary:

Provision of Integrated Lifesaving Health, Nutrition and Social Behaviour Change Interventions in two Localities in West Darfur State.

As a member of the project team, you will monitor and report on all project activities in support of Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your thorough and service-oriented approach will ensure that the project consistently applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • The PO will be responsible for the day-to-day project activity implementation in their respective field location in Foro Branga and Habila localities
  • Support the coordination and implementation of all assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
  • Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules. Assist partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.
  • Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and assisting partners in their efforts to collect and analyze project data per specified mechanisms and tools. Collaborate with local partner(s) to prepare reports per established reporting schedule.
  • Collect information on staff capacity needs and technical assistance needs of partner organizations and monitor capacity building and technical support activities to ensure effective impact.
  • Complete project documentation for assigned activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health and Nutrition or any health and or nutrition Related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in project support. Experience in the field of Health and Nutrition and for an INGO would be a plus.
  • Additional education may substitute for some experience.
  • Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement.
  • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Additional experience may substitute for some education.

 

Personal Skills

  • Observation, active listening and analysis skills with ability to make sound judgment
  • Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners and community members
  • Attention to details, accuracy and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities
  • Proactive, results-oriented and service-oriented

 

Required/Desired Foreign Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic required; other languages will be considered a plus

 

Travel Required: Frequent travel between project locations in the West Darfur state is expected.

 

Key Working Relationships:

Supervisory: Project Manager, Health and Nutrition

Internal: Project Manager, Sudan Deputy Head of Programming, Sudan Head of Programming, Senior Project Officers, H&N Project Officers, MEAL Project Officer, Assistant Project Officer and other relevant project staff.

External:  West Darfur State Ministry of Health (SMoH) staff, representatives of the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) and relevant line ministries.
