Background: About CRS Catholic Relief Services is the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States. CRS’ relief and development work is accomplished through programs of emergency response, HIV, health, agriculture, education, microfinance and peacebuilding.
CRS Sudan began implementing in Darfur in 2004 with programs in emergency relief food distribution, health, water and sanitation, shelter, education and agriculture. With an annual program value of over $30 million, CRS provides lifesaving assistance to address the needs of the most vulnerable in conflict-affected and natural disaster-prone areas, and implements longer term programs to respond to climate and conflict-related shocks and build resilience through skills building and preparedness, enhancing basic services, and strengthening linkages between local communities and government. CRS Sudan works with and through a wide network of local and international partners and has more than 175 national and international staff based in Khartoum, West and Central and East Darfur, and in Port Sudan.
Primary Functions: The Health and Nutrition Senior Project Officer based in Forobranga will work closely with the Program Manager I. S/he is responsible for overseeing the field implementation of Health and Nutrition activities under Sudan Humanitarian Fund (SHF) “Provision of integrated Health and Nutrition services to respond to conflict and drought in WD”. The Senior Project Officer will coordinate closely with the UNICEF - H&N team to ensure harmonization of all integrated Health, nutrition, and education messages to communities. The SPO’s responsibilities also include co-ordination and line management of health and nutrition project officers, coordination of all reporting with the MEAL team, provision of technical support to health and nutrition activities as well as conduct regular field site visits. The SPO will provide monthly trainings to ensure high quality health and nutrition/SBCC implementation. The SPO will also support partner staff in health and nutrition and SBCC activities in less accessible project areas. |
