 Background:

ZOA is aninternational non-governmental organisation with its head office in the Netherlands. ZOA has been working in Sudan since 2004. Its current focus is on post-conflict recovery and rehabilitation and ZOA operates programmes in North Darfur, East Darfur, South Darfur and Gedaref State, coveringthe sectors of food security and livelihoods& economic development, integrated water resources management and education.

 

Purpose of the position

The Project Officer has a diverse role and is supporting the programme department in reporting, proposal development, MEAL and communications.  It is a key hands-on and dynamic role ensuring donor compliance, documenting and disseminating results and lessons learned.  The Project officer  is expected to provide all-round programme support.

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Reporting: Coordinates, writes and supports field staff to prepare and submit timely and quality reports required by ZOA, donors or other stakeholders including regular field monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Proposal Development: supports proposal development, by writing proposals for small and/or short term proposals and supports the programme department for larger and long-term proposals
  • MEAL: Supports the MEAL team to follows-up with MEAL issues related to projects implemented by ZOA & its partners in Sudan including carrying out needs assessments, regular monitoirng and data collection of various project indicators, among others.
  • Communications: Maintains ZOA social media and works with the MEAL Specialist to  capture and document best practices and success stories and to produce quality factsheets, videos and brochures, etc.
  • Coordination: coordinates, with the relevant Programme Manager, some of the (smaller) multi-state programmes
  • External relations: Facilitates communication and preparations with concerned staff for visits by donors, consultants, missions, etc.
  • Follows-up and provides general support to specific projects as requested by the direct supervisor.
  • Any other responsibilities assigned by supervisor

  • Project staff of field offices and ZOA Headquarters personnel as requested
  • Operational staff (finance, HR etc) in Khartoum

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Competencies

Knowledge/experience

  • Work experience in international development, preferably with an (I)NGO
  • Work experience in at least two sectors of ZOA Sudan’s programme sectors. 
  • Experience in working with relevant institutional donors
  • Bachelors’ Degree in development, gender or related fields with practical experience
  • Demonstrated affinity and knowledge about the social, political and gender aspects of development.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
  • Basic knowledge about gender, do no harm and Core Humanitarian Standards
  • Basic knowledge about monitoring and evaluation systems and methods.

 

Skills/Attitude

  • Strong conceptual and writing skills

Special Conditions

  • Up to 25 % of time required for travel to ZOA programme locations in Sudan.
