 Duties and responsibilities:

The Health and Nutrition Advisor will provide strategic direction and technical leadership of CARE’s Health and Nutrition programming in Sudan, ensuring that gender is at the heart of everything that CARE does. S/he will ensure technical excellence and quality control during design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health and nutrition interventions to CARE in Sudan. S/he will be responsible for the development and roll-out of CARE’s programmatic strategy on health and nutrition in Sudan. S/he will take a leading role in project design and fundraising for CARE’s Health and Nutrition work in Sudan. S/he will provide technical guidance and support to the health and nutrition projects and staff across Sudan and ensure quality interventions based on international and national standards. S/he will make sure that CARE’s Health and Nutrition programs are continuously adjusted and improved on the basis of assessments, studies and lessons learnt from ongoing programming. When needed, s/he will lead the start-up of new interventions, particularly during emergencies. S/he will be responsible for coordination and work  closely with partners in the health and nutrition sectors, including International and National NGOs, Clusters, UN Agencies, donors and the  Ministry of Health  to ensure that CARE’s program is well coordinated and responsive to the latest development in the context.

Particular focus will be on  driving forward strategic implementation a nd ensuring  technical   quality  of CARE’s Health and Nutrition work funded by GAC and BHA in Gedaref, East Darfur and South Darfur.  

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Master’s degree in public health, Nutrition or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years working experiences in Public Health and Nutrition fields in emergency and recovery settings.
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience in NGOs
  • Good understanding of qualitative and quantitative research techniques. Sound understanding and experience of program design processes.
  • Proven experience in designing proposals and fundraising with institutional donors
  • Experience in providing training and strong facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated competency in qualitative and quantitative information collection, processing, management and analysis, and report preparation and presentation.
  • Knowledge of Sudan's humanitarian context and proven skills in cultural sensitivity, motivation and  networking.
  • A self-started with ability to work independently with minimum support as well as in a team setting under pressure and stressful situation.
  • Excellent  analytic  skills: able to triangulate  and validate information and can foresee  emerging trends.
  • Familiarity with Sphere guidelines and knowledge of the Core Humanitarian Standard
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications including MS Word, Excel, Epi-lnfo, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic languages.
