 Background:

Human Appeal (HA) is a UK-based, international humanitarian and development organization established in 1991, and operates across 25 countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. With a position in Sudan, HA has a long history of providing emergency humanitarian assistance focusing on food security, livelihoods, WASH, GBV, Education, NFIs and shelter and child protection.

HA-Sudan is seeking applicants for a Project Coordinator to be based Kadugli, South Kordofan state with Frequent travel between project sites.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Key Duties:

Under the overall supervision of the Country Programmes Coordinator, the Project Coordinator will have the following duties and responsibilities:

Lead Programme Planning and budgeting.

  • Develop and update monthly, quarterly implementation plans in coordination with project staff and local partners.
  • Support the preparation of local community development plans
  • Lead the identification of opportunities and mobilization of local resources for the action plan to meet the needs of community.
  • Lead the planning of ensuring gender balance in decision making and in all programme processes.
  • In coordination with finance staff, review and monitor project spending, including partner spending.
  • Review and approve program financial documents, including reviewing partner and HA receipts and supporting documentation.
  • Support relevant staff and partners in forecasting spending related to project activities.
  • Participate and contribute to internal strategic and planning meetings.
  • Support/facilitate field assessments and discussions when needed to identify new areas of intervention. 
  • Support the Country Director, Country Programmes Coordinator/ IFU or designate in drafting CN or Proposals and proposals when required.

Implementation, Monitoring & Oversight:

  • Lead of implementation of the activities by HA-Sudan project staff and partners to ensure outputs are achieved and indicators are met in accordance with agreed upon timelines, quality standards and donor and HA regulations and policies.   
  • Maintain regular communication with partners and staff, and conduct regular field visits, to ensure progress in a timely manner and challenges are identified and addressed.
  • Improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of project mission specifically, support better management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organizational planning
  • Continuously assess the local context, assumptions and changes in the working environment (a) to ensure the project’s focus, strategies and activities remain relevant and (b) to propose adjustments when needed.
  • Competency in addressing gender issues in a conflict environment and adapting to effectively manage these in a changing environment.

Reporting and documentation

  • Prepare and submit timely progress reports to Country Programmes Coordinator on project interventions.
  • Support the Country Programmes Coordinator on information requirements for funding, proposal development and other demands as may come up from time to time
  • Submit stories/articles and photos of the project regularly to Communications unite, fundraising or any other purpose as may be required
  • Keep track of impact and success stories, and ensure they are reflected in reports and other communication/visibility materials.
  • Protect the beneficiary data base and other related information vital to the programme

Other responsibilities

Any other duties relating to the nature of the scope of work as requested by the supervisor.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Degree in community development related social and natural sciences/disciplines such as social work, sociology, development studies, economics, agriculture, community nursing, rural development, etc
  • At least 3 years’ experience in implementing community development or OVC support programmes.
  • Sound understanding of women’s rights, women empowerment, and community development, rights based programming and management of CBOs.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • English mandatory (oral and written)
  • Strong IT skills Proven experience in tools development.
  • Understanding and ability to apply community development participatory methodologies.
  • Possession of a driving license will be an added advantage.
