Senior Infection Prevention and Control Specialist

 Background:

The Senior Infection Prevention and Control Specialist can works under the direct supervision of the Coordinator of the respective Health Emergency programme or geographical location or in small to medium-sized Country Offices directly under the WHO Representative. S/he is expected to perform his/her duties and responsibilities with highest degree of efficiency and sound judgment. To provide technical support to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) for covid-19 response related activities in Khartoum state through leading supportive supervision team.
The incumbent coordinates activities in the designated areas and may supervise directly a small team of Special Service Agreement holders.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Assessment of IPC situation and progress for: 70 selected PHCCs and 5 secondary isolation centres (sICT) in Khartoum state.

  • Identify training needs among the staff of the assessed facilities regarding IPC practice, develop training contents and perform on-the-job-training.
  • Assess the level of the rational use of PPEs and provide recommendations to the PHCC, sICT and SMoH
  • Technically support SMoH in revising and adapting IPC guidelines and protocols beside support in capacity building and trainings.
  • Identify IPC related supply needs and revise SMoH requests to WHO
  •  Assess the physical structure of the selected PHCCs and recommend minor rehabilitations, if needed to boost the IPC situation.

Output 1: IPC Focal Persons in 70 PHCCs are well trained

Deliverable:

  •  IPC training materials
  • Pre and post-training skills improvement documented in a report
  •  Posters and signs for IPC
  •  Delivery of Basic needs for IPC (HH and hand wash facility, Disinfectant,PPEs)

Output 2: Assessment of IPC Situation in PHCCs

Deliverable:

  • Baseline Assessment Report
  • Progress Reports
  • Final Report

Output 3: Personal Protective Equipment are Rationally Used
1. Consumption of PPEs Reports
2. Adapted Rational Use of PPEs Developed

Output 4: minor rehabilitation for PHCC

Deliverable:
Hand wash facilities is available with completed needs
All minor rehabilitation for IPC and importance for center to provide service is done


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND


University degree of Medicine, Nursing, training and experience in IPC. Advanced certificate in IPC is essential. PROFESSIONAL

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

  • At least 2 years of experiences in IPC management position with good training skills.
  • A higher degree in IPC.
