 Background:

The Organization: MAARIF Organization for Humanitarian Aid and Development is a non-governmental organization was established in 2012. MAARIF’s major projects fall, but not exclusively, under the WASH, Nutrition, Health and emergency relief sectors. MAARIF is aiming to be one of the is one of the leading crisis response agencies, providing life-saving assistance and supporting recovery and reconstruction for people hit by war/conflict and natural disasters. Active in public health, education, livelihoods, women\'s empowerment, youth development, and protection and promotion of legal rights for the vulnerable and displaced, MAARIF aims to accompany people on their journey from harm to home.

 

The Position:

This position is responsible of proper MAARIF Financial Control. He/she shall participate in the budget preparation and monitoring of expenditure. He/she also shall prepare financial reports and statements in timely matters. He/she monitor the finance and accounting systems are working properly in all MAARIF offices.

 

Key Results:

The Finance Officer is expected to produce proper financial documents/record to maintain organizational viable financial system.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop the existing Financial Policies of MAARIF to become in accordance to the UN standard.
  • Ensure that adequate financial controls are in place to maintain propriety and proper accountability of expenditures;
  •  Ensure the financial transactions are properly authorized, recorded, have adequate supporting documentation, filed, maintained and can be easily extracted for the purpose of preparing financial statements; and financial audits.
  • Monitor budgets and expenditures and contribute to preparation of budget.
  • Liaise with Sub-offices’ Accountant to ensure compatibility of the financial books with CO.
  • Preparing and submitting timely and reliable MAARIF financial documents and financial reports;
  • Prepare project financial reports, statement and submit to Project Manager according to donor’s timelines/frames.
  • Establish a computer based monitoring system for expenditures;
  • Check and ensure that all procurement process and expenditures of the project in accordance with the MAARIF procedure and policies.
  • This includes ensuring receipts to be obtained for all payment;
  • Check budget lines to ensure that all transactions are booked to the correct budget lines.
  • Perform any other task(s) as assigned by CEO and/or DEM.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

1) Education

  • Bachelor degree in Finance and/or Business Administration. A postgraduate university degree Finance or MBA is an added value.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Excel. Word and outlook).
  • ability to use finance familiar applications/systems.

 

2) Work Experience

  • 5 years working experience in finance
  • Familiarity of the UN Finance System or international NGOs

 

3) Languages

  • Fluency in oral and written English as working language is a must.
  • Ability to write official letters in English.
